Verify Baldur’s Gate 3 through the same client you used to install it: in Steam, open the game’s Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files; in GOG Galaxy, select the game and choose Manage installation > Verify / Repair. These built-in checks compare your installation with the client’s files and can replace missing or damaged data.
Verify Baldur’s Gate 3 files in Steam
- Open Library and locate Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Right-click the game, or open its Library page and select the gear control, then choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let the check finish. Steam says verification can take several minutes. Steam Support documents this current menu path.
You may see a message that one or more files failed verification. Steam says this can be normal because local configuration files are not necessarily replaced by the check; that warning can be safely ignored. If the original problem continues, troubleshoot that symptom rather than treating the warning alone as proof the repair failed.
Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 support instructions describe the same process using older Steam labels: Local Files and Verify Integrity of Game Files…. If your client shows different labels, follow Steam’s current Installed Files wording. Larian installation support

Verify or repair Baldur’s Gate 3 in GOG Galaxy
- Select Baldur’s Gate 3 in GOG Galaxy.
- Open the customization or settings control beside Play. Larian describes it as the settings icon at the top right; GOG calls it the customization button to the right of Play.
- Choose Manage installation > Verify / Repair and allow the process to complete. GOG Support’s verification instructions
GOG Galaxy compares the installed game files with files hosted on GOG’s servers. If it finds discrepancies, Galaxy redownloads and repairs the affected files. Small differences in the control’s icon or label may reflect the Galaxy client version.

If verification does not solve the problem
Verification is a first check for missing or corrupted installation files, not a guarantee that every launch, crash, or update issue will be fixed. Choose the next step according to what is still going wrong:

appmanifest_1086940.acf.tmp.savefrom the SteamApps folder only when a Steam download repeatedly pauses; this is a symptom-specific advanced step, not part of routine file verification.
