MultiStar is a Good Lock module that adds controls for Samsung Galaxy’s Multi window feature. Use Multi window to put two supported apps on screen at once, open an app in a floating pop-up window, or save a frequently used combination as an app pair. MultiStar’s available controls depend on your Galaxy model and One UI version, so check what appears on your device.
What MultiStar does—and how it differs from Multi window
Multi window is Samsung’s built-in way to run apps in split-screen or pop-up view. MultiStar is a module within Good Lock that enhances some of those multitasking controls; it does not replace Multi window. Samsung describes MultiStar as providing “enhanced multi-window functionality.” See the MultiStar Galaxy Store listing for its current description and availability.
Samsung’s Good Lock overview describes MultiStar options that can let supported apps remain active together, resize to fit the screen, or reduce blur in split-screen. These controls and their labels can change between software versions. Samsung’s Good Lock overview notes that feature and setting availability can vary by device and software version.

Check availability before setting up multitasking
Open Good Lock and check whether MultiStar is available for your device; install or update it through the Galaxy Store listing if offered. The listing displayed MultiStar version 10.4.06 dated July 24, 2026, and stated support for One UI 8 and above. That is release information current to the listing, not a guarantee that every Galaxy device supports the module. Check the listing on your own device for the latest version and compatibility details.

- Samsung says Multi window is available on Galaxy Fold, Flip, and non-foldable devices, but screens and settings vary by model, carrier, and software version.
- Some apps do not support split-screen, and some MultiStar features may not be supported on particular devices.
- Samsung does not support split-screen or pop-up view on the front screen of Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip devices.

Open two apps in split-screen or pop-up view
You can launch Multi window from the Edge panel or from the Recents screen. Samsung’s precise labels and available choices can vary, so use the options shown on your Galaxy.

Start from the Edge panel
- If the Edge panel is not enabled, open your device’s Settings and search for “Edge panels”; turn the feature on if it is available.
- Open the Edge panel by swiping its handle, then open the apps tray.
- Drag an app from the tray toward an available screen region to open split-screen, or toward the center to open it in pop-up view. Choose a second app when prompted for split-screen.
Start from Recents
- Open the Recents screen using your device’s navigation gesture or button.
- Tap the icon above the app preview.
- Choose the displayed split-screen or pop-up view option. If the option is missing, that app or device may not support that mode.
- For split-screen, select the second app when prompted.
Choose placement and adjust the layout
Placement depends on the Galaxy’s form factor. Samsung’s instructions allow Fold devices to start split-screen by dragging an app toward the left, right, top, or bottom area. On Flip and non-foldable devices, drag toward the top or bottom. The exact regions available depend on the model and screen. On supported devices, dropping an app near the center opens pop-up view.
In split-screen, drag the divider between the apps to change how much screen space each uses. If an app will not open in the layout, try a different app; split-screen support is not universal.

Save a recurring combination as an app pair
An app pair lets you reopen two apps together in split-screen rather than selecting them separately each time. First arrange the two apps in split-screen, then:
- Tap the divider between the apps.
- Choose the add-to-app-pair control shown on your device.
- Select where to save the pair when prompted.
After saving, launch the pair from its chosen location when you want that combination again. The control name and available save locations may differ by software version.

Use MultiStar controls when they are available
Open Good Lock, select MultiStar, and review the options shown for your device. Depending on One UI and model, MultiStar may offer controls related to keeping multiple apps active, fitting windows to the screen, or reducing split-screen blur. Turn on only the controls you need; their names, behavior, and availability are not identical across Galaxy devices.
The Galaxy Store listing describes MultiStar features spanning One UI 1 through One UI 8, while its release notes identify support for One UI 8 and above for the listed current release. A feature’s presence in the listing does not mean it is available on every older One UI version or every supported model.

Pick the mode that fits the task

When an option is missing
- No split-screen choice: Check whether the app supports split-screen. Samsung notes that some apps do not.
- No MultiStar option or module: Check the Galaxy Store listing and Good Lock on the device; compatibility depends on model and software.
- Unexpected placement behavior: Follow the drag regions available for your device’s form factor and screen. Fold, Flip, and non-foldable layouts differ.
- Trying to multitask on a Fold or Flip cover screen: Samsung says split-screen and pop-up view are not supported on those front screens.
- Labels do not match these steps: Samsung notes that settings and screens can vary by software version, carrier, and model; follow the closest matching controls shown on your device.
