To change your Fortnite skin, open Locker from the Lobby, select Character, choose an owned outfit, and click Back. Your Lobby avatar will show the selected cosmetics. Menu labels and placement may change with Fortnite updates.
Change your Fortnite outfit
- Launch Fortnite and open the Locker tab from the Lobby.
- Select Character, then choose the outfit you want to use.
- Click Back to equip it. The selected cosmetics appear on your Lobby avatar.
These steps follow Epic Games Player Support’s outfit instructions. The same Locker-and-Back pattern is used to equip other Locker cosmetics, as described in Epic’s general equip instructions.
Change an outfit’s style
Epic’s documented style-editing steps apply specifically to the Default Outfit; not every outfit necessarily has editable styles.
- In Locker, select Character, then open Outfits.
- Choose the hanger-and-shirt icon at the upper left of the outfit list.
- Select Default Outfit, open the three-dot menu, and choose Edit Styles.
- Pick a Default Outfit on the Pick Outfit screen.

Randomize your outfit
To use the Randomize control, open Locker, go to Character, select the three-dot menu, and choose Randomize. Epic’s instructions do not specify which items are included in the randomization pool, so check the current menu for its available behavior. Epic Games Player Support explains the Randomize option.
Favorite and find outfits
Epic documents these Favorite controls for specific interfaces:
- Console: Navigate to the cosmetic in Locker and press and hold the left stick.
- PC: Navigate to the cosmetic, click the three-dot menu, and choose Favorite Item.
To find favorites, use Sort + Filter, filter by Favorites, and apply the filter for the cosmetic category. Controls can differ by device, so use the options shown in your current Locker. See Epic’s Favorite and filter instructions.

If a skin is missing from your Locker
First confirm that Fortnite is using the Epic account where the outfit was purchased, earned, or claimed. Epic says items cannot be manually transferred between Epic accounts and remain on the account that acquired them.

- If a platform is linked to the wrong Epic account, Epic says relinking may resolve the issue.
- A recent purchase may be returnable and repurchasable on the intended account only if the item remains in the Item Shop and you have a Cancel Purchase or Return Ticket available.

Epic’s Terms of Service say in-game content is licensed for use in the Licensed Products in which it was acquired; compatibility may depend on the experience’s design or ratings, and features, pricing, and availability can change. Consequently, do not assume an outfit will work in every Fortnite experience or remain available indefinitely. See Epic Games Terms of Service, Section 10.
