A video membership site grows an email list when the email signup is part of the viewer’s path, not an afterthought. Offer a useful resource related to your videos, present it on a public page or beside relevant content, and connect the form to an email service that delivers the resource and follows up. The membership platform may handle some of this workflow; landing-page and email tools may handle the rest.
Start with a specific subscriber promise
People are more likely to exchange an email address for a clear outcome than for a generic request to “join the list.” Match the incentive to the subject of your membership library and state exactly what the subscriber receives and how it will arrive.
Useful lead-magnet formats
- A short training that expands on a popular member video
- A checklist viewers can use while following a lesson
- A companion worksheet, template, or resource list
- A free preview or introductory lesson
Thinkific documents free digital downloads as lead magnets, while Uscreen documents giveaway funnels that exchange free content for an email address. In either case, describe the delivery method on the signup page so the promise is unambiguous.
Use a public page for discovery and signup
Keep the first explanation of the offer accessible to people who are not members. A campaign landing page can explain the benefit, show a relevant video or preview, and collect the address before someone enters the private membership experience.

When the membership platform supplies the page
Uscreen documents campaign-specific pages with an email-capture block; collected addresses appear in its People area. Thinkific documents a lead-capture section that can be added to a home page, course landing page, or custom page.
When a separate site is the better fit
Membership.io describes its Hubs as private member experiences and recommends using a separate public website or landing-page platform for discovery and signup. This separation lets you change campaign copy or run different acquisition pages without exposing the member area.

Place opt-ins where the video context makes sense
Do not show the same form everywhere. Tie each call to action to the viewer’s immediate interest and explain the connection in one sentence.
Common placements
- A form on the landing page promoting a free preview or download
- An in-content form in a post that accompanies a video
- A sidebar or footer form for visitors browsing several topics
- A click-triggered button, link, or image that opens the form at the moment a viewer wants the related resource
Grow documents all of these placement patterns, and Thinkific documents adding a lead-capture section to several page types. The label should identify the benefit and the next step—for example, “Send me the mobility checklist”—rather than relying on a vague “Submit” button.

Build the delivery and email handoff
Before publishing the form, map where the address goes, which system sends the promised resource, and what happens afterward. A membership platform, an email service provider, or both may be involved.
- Connect the form to the intended audience. Confirm whether new subscribers are stored in the membership platform, synchronized directly to your email service, or exported for import.
- Deliver the incentive immediately. Configure the email or confirmation flow that sends the promised video, download, or link. Check that the link works for a new subscriber and that the message identifies why the person is receiving it.
- Write a short follow-up sequence. Start with useful material related to the opt-in, then invite the reader to the relevant membership page when the fit is clear.
- Test the complete handoff. Use a test address to submit the form, verify the record appears in the correct audience, confirm delivery, and check that any tags or automation steps fire as expected.
What the documented services indicate
- Grow documents CSV export and integrations with email-service providers.
- Membership.io recommends using a separate email platform in its stack.
- A January 2025 Grow support response said its forms did not directly provide file downloads at that time and described sending the file or link through an integrated provider. Because this behavior can change, verify the current implementation before promising an instant download.
Compare platforms by the handoffs you actually need

Feature names, plan limits, and integrations are volatile. Confirm the current documentation and test the exact path you will sell before launch.

Measure the funnel as separate steps
Use your own operating data rather than assuming a platform feature will produce a particular lift. Track each stage independently:

- Signup rate: how many visitors submit the form
- Resource delivery: how many addresses receive the promised item successfully
- Membership enrollment: how many subscribers later become members
Keep the figures tied to the same campaign and time period. The available vendor documentation describes features, not a neutral study that compares these methods, so no universal conversion percentage can be inferred.
Interpret vendor performance claims carefully
Grow’s Spotlight Subscribe page says its in-content call to action has “conversion rates nearly three times as high as traditional methods.” That is Grow’s own product claim; the cited page does not provide an independently validated study, named researcher, or publication year for the comparison. Treat it as marketing evidence to investigate, not as a result you can promise.
