To find and lock a lost Galaxy phone, open Samsung’s SmartThings Find or Samsung Find website, sign in with the Samsung account linked to the phone, select the device, then choose Lock. You can set a PIN and add a message or contact details for someone who finds it. Whether Samsung can show a current location depends on the phone’s setup, power and connectivity.

In a browser, open Samsung SmartThings Find or Samsung Find. Samsung US lists both services in its lost Galaxy phone guidance; the available service and labels may differ by market.

Sign in with the Samsung account that was added to the missing phone.

Select the phone in the device list. If location information is available, review its position on the map.

Choose Lock, create and confirm the requested PIN, and optionally enter an emergency contact and a message to display on the lock screen.

Confirm the lock request. Samsung says the phone remains locked until the chosen PIN is entered.

If the phone is probably nearby, choose Ring: Samsung says it can ring for one minute even if muted or vibrating. If it may be moving, Samsung describes Track location, which sends updates every 15 minutes, and Notify me when it’s found in Samsung Find. These features may not be available on every device or in every market.

For a current location, Samsung lists the phone being powered on and connected to a stable network among the requirements. If it is powered off, Samsung says only its last known location is available. Location may also be unavailable if the necessary Samsung account or lost-device controls were not set up.

Offline finding may help in some circumstances. Samsung Australia explains that nearby Galaxy devices can act as “Find Nodes” and relay location signals to Samsung’s server. This depends on the phone’s offline-finding configuration and participating nearby devices; it is not guaranteed live tracking.
Lock the phone or erase its data?

Consider Erase data a last resort. Samsung US advises backing up before a remote factory reset because the phone’s data will be erased. If you cannot erase the device remotely, Samsung US recommends changing passwords for accounts that may be signed in. Changing the Samsung account password logs out devices using that account, which may affect your other devices.

If you think the phone was stolen
Do not go to the map location yourself. Samsung US Support advises: “If you are using SmartThings Find or Samsung Find to locate a stolen phone or tablet, do not go directly to the location on the map. Inform the authorities and let them retrieve it.” Contact your carrier as well; Samsung says it may offer a service to help locate or suspend the phone.
Check lost-device settings before you need them
Samsung’s current US menu guidance is Settings > Security and privacy > Lost device protection. Verify that Allow this phone to be found, Send last location and Offline finding are enabled. Samsung says remote controls are enabled by default when you add a Samsung account, but checking these settings while you still have the phone can prevent surprises.

Menu names and paths can vary by country, carrier, software version and model. Samsung UK says Find My Mobile is now part of SmartThings Find; its support page was updated 12 August 2026. Follow the service names and instructions shown in your market.
