To unlock the secret ending in End of Abyss, collect all eight Data Shards, deliver them to the Mainframe in Lower Levels > B3, then defeat the final boss again. The 100% Guides walkthrough, dated September 29, 2026, says the shards are not missable and remain available after the main story, so you can do this as post-game cleanup.
Recommended order: finish the normal ending first
The 100% Guides trophy walkthrough recommends completing the normal ending before hunting for the shards. After the credits, the game returns you to the main menu; choose Continue to resume at the last autosave, in the safe room before the final boss. Collect the shards, turn them in at the Lower Levels B3 Mainframe, and fight the boss again.
The 100% Guides shard walkthrough says the Data Shards are not missable and can be collected after finishing the story. You do not need to restart the game to pursue the secret ending.
Where to find all eight Data Shards
The following locations and route directions are reported by the 100% Guides walkthrough. Several require Explosive Charges, and the Reactor route also requires the Grappling Hook.

1. Lower Levels > F1
In the northern hall, burn down the wall to uncover the Data Shard.
2. Habitation Sector > F1
- Use an Explosive Charge on the wall just left of the Containment Sector Fast Travel Shuttle to reach the Security Guard Keycard.
- Use that keycard on the door at the right end of the Habitation Sector corridor.
- Go downstairs and left to collect the Security Chief Keycard.
- Use the Security Chief Keycard in the main hall, then go through the northern door to find the shard.
3. Ventilation Tunnels > F3
- At the easternmost Factory East entrance to the Tunnels, use Explosive Charges to destroy the weak wall.
- Continue to F2 and cross the upper catwalk. Pull down the ladder to F3, then go right and upstairs.
- After the ambush, collect the Ventilation Maintenance Key and use it on the northern F3 door.
4. Factory West > F4
- In the Outer Sector, use an Explosive Charge to open the floor just outside the Maintenance safe room.
- Go down and left to find the Executive Level Access Keycard behind boxes.
- At Factory West, use the keycard to access the lift on F2 and ride it up.
- Collect the shard in the second room, which contains a large table.
5. Reactor > B1
This route begins in Waterworks B3 and requires the Grappling Hook.
- Press the switch in the room left of Waterworks B3, then press the switch beside the circular structure to drain some water.
- Activate the eastern B3 pump console. Leave through the door to its left, climb down, head north, and use an Explosive Charge on the blocked wall.
- Take the upper-right B3 door and reach the switch that drains the Reactor Pool. The route passes an Energy Node door and an ambush.
- At Reactor B3, descend into the drained pool. Go left at the bottom and take the Underbelly Key from a locker.
- Use the key on the door down the short stairs outside the Reactor on the right side of F1 to reach the shard.
6. Waterworks > B3
Take the Sewer Workshop Key from the left side of the B3 sewers. Use it to open the small room at the bottom of the sewers, where the shard is located.

- On B1, use an Explosive Charge to open a wall.
- In the next room, pull down the ladder and take the Storage Room Key.
- Use the key to open the F3 door containing the shard.
8. Lower Levels > B4
From the safe room on B3, go down the stairs into the Tunnels. Burn down the wall about halfway through to reveal the shard.

Turn in the shards and trigger the secret ending
- Once you have all eight Data Shards, return to the Mainframe in Lower Levels > B3.
- Deliver the shards to the Mainframe.
- Defeat the final boss again to see the secret ending.
This unlock sequence is reported by 100% Guides; the official game pages reviewed do not describe the secret-ending trigger. The PlayStation listing describes Scanner-based exploration and hidden areas, while Xbox Wire’s September 30, 2026 article features Section 9 Interactive co-founder Marcus Ottvall discussing how the game developed toward exploration and atmosphere. Those official sources provide game context, not confirmation of the shard route.
