For the 12 base-game armor sets, unlocks range from Atsu’s starting armor to story quests, side quests, a bounty, and an exploration encounter. That is not a complete list of every outfit or cosmetic available by October 2026: New Game+, Most Wanted, and the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion add cosmetics, but their official announcements do not provide a full item-by-item unlock catalog.
“Outfit” can mean either a stat-bearing armor set or the look Atsu displays. Since the October 2026 update, you can keep one set’s appearance while using another set’s stats. The routes below explain how to earn the base-game sets; post-launch modes and the appearance option are covered separately.

Base-game armor sets and how to unlock them
Push Square’s October 10, 2025 guide lists 12 base-game armor sets. These are not all purely cosmetic: armor perks affect gameplay, so consider both the unlock route and the set’s combat, stealth, ranged, or exploration utility when choosing what to pursue.

Post-launch cosmetics: what is confirmed
Post-launch additions expand the choices beyond the 12 base-game sets, but the available official announcements do not enumerate every item or give a specific unlock condition for each outfit. Treat the routes below as confirmed systems, not a complete item checklist.
New Game+ and Ghost Flowers
New Game+ unlocks after you finish the main story. Sucker Punch says you can replay with gear earned in the campaign and collect Ghost Flowers to exchange with a new vendor for more than 30 cosmetics, including new armor sets and weapon dyes. Most Wanted is a single-player mode built around escalating bounties featuring members of the Yōtei Six. Runs earn Mon, which you spend between runs. The official PlayStation page confirms that cosmetics earned in the mode also unlock in the main game, so they can be worn during Atsu’s original quest or the story expansion. It does not establish a specific outfit’s price or the exact task needed to earn it. See the Most Wanted mode details.

The Echoes of Sekigahara expansion adds armor sets and cosmetics in Ashoro Foothills, but its announcement does not provide their full names or individual unlock steps. The Complete Edition bundles the expansion with Most Wanted. Sakai Armor’s limited early unlock was tied to purchases or preorders by September 30, 2026; that offer has passed. How to use an armor look without its stats
The October 2026 patch lets you retain one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats. That means earning an armor set and wearing its look are separate decisions: choose the set whose perks suit your build, then use the appearance option if you prefer another set’s style. The update confirms the feature, but the cited announcement does not give a menu path for applying it. See the Patch 1.1.0 notes.

The 12-set count is specifically a base-game list published in 2025. It should not be read as the current total: New Game+, Most Wanted, and Echoes of Sekigahara add cosmetics, while the official sources cited above confirm systems and additions rather than a complete, item-by-item catalog. If you are trying to find a particular post-launch look, the available confirmed information here does not establish its exact unlock route.
