To unlink a PlayStation account from Epic Games, sign in to the Epic account it is attached to, open Linked accounts in your account settings, and select Unlink beside the PlayStation entry. Before you confirm, check which account holds your game progress, because unlinking changes which account the console can reach.
Check which account holds your progress first
Epic’s guidance on unlinking begins with a warning: “We highly discourage unlinking your console account from your Epic Games account for these reasons:” The reasons follow in Epic’s article, and they are the reason this step matters. Fortnite and Fall Guys
Epic says Fortnite and Fall Guys progress and purchases are stored on the Epic Games account. After unlinking, the disconnected console loses access to that data. The data itself remains on the Epic account.

Rocket League
Epic warns that unlinking the account where Rocket League progress is stored, which is typically the device or console you use most, can reset that account’s inventory and XP level. Work out which account holds your progress before you unlink anything.

How to unlink the PlayStation account
- Open Epic Games in a browser and sign in to the Epic account connected to your PlayStation account. You can use your Epic email and password or the console sign-in option. If the page shows the wrong signed-in account, sign out and sign in to the correct one. (Epic Games Player Support: How do I change the console account I have linked to my Epic Games account?)
- Open Linked accounts in account settings and locate the PlayStation or console account.
- Select Unlink and follow the on-screen instructions. Read the warning before you confirm.
Epic’s short instruction for this step reads: “Visit your Linked accounts page. Select Unlink below the console or platform account you want to unlink.” (Epic Games Player Support, unlinking guide)
What happens after you unlink
Launching a game on the unlinked console
If you open Fortnite on the console you just unlinked, Epic may automatically create a new Epic account for it with no progression. Your original account and its progress are not moved to the console. If you want to keep playing with your existing progress, sign in to that Epic account on the device that holds it.

Linking a different PlayStation account
Epic’s linking rules block a new account of the same platform type when a different one is already linked. Unlinking the current account does not automatically clear this restriction. Epic’s stated route is to unlink the current account of that type if needed, remove the restriction, and then link the new account. Epic states the restriction can be removed only once every 365 days. Its linking article says this “can only be done once every 365 days and cannot be bypassed.” The article does not state a publication year.
- If a PlayStation account is still linked, unlink it using the steps above.
- Remove the same-platform linking restriction by following Epic’s guidance. (Epic Games Player Support: How do I link a different platform account to my Epic Games account?)
- Select Link an account and choose the PlayStation platform icon.
If an active Fortnite Crew subscription is attached to the PlayStation account you are removing, cancel it first. Epic says it will not provide new rewards after unlinking.

Choosing between the two goals

If something goes wrong
- The wrong Epic account is open: Sign out and sign back in to the Epic account associated with your PlayStation account. Epic’s account-change guidance also allows the console sign-in option.
- A different PlayStation account will not link: Follow Epic’s linking-restriction process. The 365-day limit applies, and repeated unlinking does not get around it.
- You cannot access the Epic email: Use Epic’s account recovery request process.
- The link appears unauthorized: Unlink the PlayStation account if it is still linked, submit a support ticket to Epic, and secure your Epic account.
