To uninstall a Wacom driver in Windows 10 or 11, disconnect the tablet, remove the Wacom software through Control Panel’s Programs and Features, and restart the computer. Back up your Wacom preferences first: Wacom warns that uninstalling removes them. Use the separate manual cleanup only if the standard uninstall leaves Wacom files behind.
Before uninstalling: protect your settings and disconnect the tablet
Save any open work, back up your Wacom preferences, and make sure you know the administrator account credentials. Wacom’s uninstall process removes preferences, so backing them up first is important if you want to keep custom settings. Follow Wacom’s Windows uninstall instructions for the device-specific details.
- USB tablet: Unplug its cable.
- Wireless Kit: Remove its USB dongle.
- Bluetooth tablet: Turn off the tablet and the computer’s Bluetooth connection.
- Pen Computer: Skip the disconnect step.
Uninstall the Wacom driver through Programs and Features
Wacom provides a general Windows procedure rather than separate walkthroughs for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Menu labels can vary, so use Windows Search if you cannot find a listed item.

- Open Programs and Features. If you do not see it, search Windows for “Programs and Features.”
- In the installed-program list, select each Wacom-related entry named Tablet, Wacom Tablet, or Bamboo, then choose Uninstall.
- Follow the prompts to finish removing the entries.
- Restart the computer.
If you are reinstalling the driver
After uninstalling and restarting, download the driver for your exact tablet model from Wacom’s driver support page. Compatibility varies by model, especially for older products, so use the model-specific listing rather than relying on a general driver version.

- Run the downloaded installer and follow its prompts.
- Allow the installer to restart the computer if required.
- Reconnect the tablet after installation. Wacom recommends connecting it directly to the computer; a USB hub, keyboard or monitor port, or docking station can cause inconsistent behavior.
If the standard uninstall leaves Wacom files behind
Manual cleanup is a more advanced option, not a required part of every uninstall. Try it only if the standard removal and restart leave Wacom files behind. Wacom’s manual removal procedure lists locations and filenames to check, including:
C:Program FilesTabletAppDataRoamingWTabletandAppDataLocalWacomin your user profile- A temporary
wactempfolder - Specified Wacom files under
C:WindowsSystem32 - Old Bamboo folders
Some locations may be hidden; Wacom explains how to show hidden system folders in its manual procedure. Follow its listed locations and remove only the Wacom leftovers it identifies. Do not delete unrelated files from Windows or your user profile. Manual cleanup can also remove preferences, and you may need administrator access.

When the uninstall is part of troubleshooting
If you are uninstalling because Windows reports that the tablet driver stopped or is not running, Wacom says the issue may involve the Wacom Professional Service. Restart the computer first. If the message persists, Wacom recommends uninstalling and reinstalling the current, model-appropriate driver.
For a driver that is not responding, Wacom’s April 2026 troubleshooting guidance also suggests checking for Windows updates, testing the driver from a newly created administrator account, and configuring Wacom Professional Service recovery options if other steps do not resolve the issue. These are troubleshooting options, not routine requirements for removing the driver.
