There is no single volume-up gesture for every JBL wireless earbud. Check the exact model name in your phone’s Bluetooth settings, on the charging case, or in the manual, then follow that model’s guide. If your earbuds lack onboard volume controls, raise the volume on the connected phone or other device.
Check the volume control for your JBL model
Gestures differ even between JBL models, so do not assume that tapping the left earbud will work the same way on every pair. JBL’s quick-start guides document different controls for these examples:

These gestures come from JBL’s Wave Flex 2 and Vibe Flex quick-start guides. Use your own model’s guide if you have a different pair; the examples are not universal.

Some JBL true-wireless models do not offer onboard volume control. JBL’s support page lists models including Tune 220TWS, Tune 225TWS, Tune 120TWS, Tune 115TWS, Tune 215TWS, Tune 125TWS, Free II, Free X, and Reflect Flow. For models covered by that guidance, JBL says to control volume manually from the connected device.

Use the phone’s physical volume buttons or its on-screen volume slider while audio is playing. If you are unsure whether your model is included, check its manual or JBL support information rather than trying an undocumented tap pattern. See JBL’s volume-control support list.
If one or both earbuds still sound quiet
When raising the source volume does not resolve low or uneven output, inspect the earbud grille for visible dust or earwax. JBL identifies buildup as a possible cause of low volume in one or both earbuds or a difference between the left and right sides.

Remove visible debris gently
- Check around the earbud and driver for visible buildup.
- For routine cleaning, JBL mentions a small brush, such as a toothbrush. Use it gently on visible debris; do not push tools through the grille.
- JBL also mentions a pointed toothpick for larger amounts of debris and a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab for final degreasing. Keep these methods limited to visible debris and avoid forcing anything into the grille.
Use JBL’s shallow tip-cleaning method only as specified
For persistent grille debris, JBL describes dipping only the affected earbud tip 1–2 mm into lukewarm water with a little dish soap for 2–3 minutes, then cleaning the grille with a small brush. This is a narrowly specified instruction, not permission to submerge the earbud: JBL warns that immersing the earbuds or dipping deeper than specified could void the warranty. Do not put the earbud body in water. See JBL’s cleaning guidance and check your model’s instructions before cleaning.
