To quiet repeated alerts without disabling notifications, turn on Notification cooldown: open Settings > Notifications and switch it on. Google documents the feature for Pixel phones running Android 14 or later; it lowers the volume of repeated notifications from the same app rather than blocking them.
Turn on Notification cooldown
- Open the Settings app on your Pixel.
- Tap Notifications.
- Turn on Notification cooldown.
Google lists the feature for Android 14 and later. If you do not see the switch, check your Android version under Settings > About phone > Android version, then install any available system update. Menu labels can change with software updates.
What Notification cooldown changes
Google describes the feature as automatically lowering the volume of repeated notifications from the same app to help you focus. The alerts are not described as blocked or discarded. Google does not specify a fixed number of notifications that triggers cooldown or how long it lasts, so there is no documented threshold to tune.

Silence one app or category
Go to Settings > Notifications > App notifications, choose an app, and adjust its notification controls. If the app offers notification categories, you can manage those separately when you want to keep some alerts and silence others.

Quiet a broader set of alerts
Use Do Not Disturb or another available Mode when you want to filter interruptions beyond repeated alerts from one app. Its filters can cover people, apps, alarms, and other interruptions, and certain modes offer scheduling.
