Battery Saver is a Windows power setting, not a documented antivirus mode. On Windows 11 24H1 and earlier, turn it on at Settings > System > Power & battery > Battery Saver. On Windows 11 24H2 and later, Microsoft calls the replacement feature Energy Saver; find it in Power & battery or Quick Settings.
Choose the instructions for your Windows 11 version
The feature name changed with Windows 11 24H2. If you are unsure which release is installed, check Settings > System > About, then use the matching instructions below. Menu labels can vary by release and device.
Windows 11 24H1 and earlier: turn on Battery Saver
- Open Settings > System > Power & battery.
- Expand Battery Saver.
- Select Turn on now to enable it immediately, or choose the battery level at which Windows should turn it on automatically. Microsoft Support documents these controls in its Windows battery-saving instructions.
You can also open the Battery icon’s quick setting in the notification area and enable Battery Saver there. When turned on with the immediate control, Battery Saver remains on until the next time the PC is plugged in.
Windows 11 24H2 and later: turn on Energy Saver
- Open Settings > System > Power & battery and find Energy saver.
- Turn it on, or configure the battery level at which it should activate automatically. Settings also offers an option to keep Energy Saver on while the PC is plugged in.
For a quick toggle, open Quick Settings and select Energy saver. Microsoft identifies Energy Saver as the replacement for Battery Saver in Windows 11 24H2 and later in its Energy Saver documentation.

What Battery Saver and Energy Saver change
These settings conserve power by changing some system and app behavior, not by changing antivirus protection. The details differ by Windows version:

If you meant a setting inside your antivirus app
The phrase “Battery Saver Mode in Antivirus” does not identify a particular antivirus product. Microsoft documents the Windows Battery Saver and Energy Saver controls in Windows Settings and Quick Settings; the instructions above enable the operating-system feature. An antivirus suite may have its own power-related feature, but its name and availability depend on the app, and there is no basis here to assume that every antivirus includes one.

An Avast privacy notice describes a separately named “Avast Battery Saver for Windows” that creates power-plan profiles, but that notice does not establish that the tool is currently available or that it is an antivirus feature. It is not needed to turn on Windows Battery Saver or Energy Saver. The notice is available in Avast’s privacy policy and product comparisons.

Windows documents the power-saving behaviors, but those descriptions do not establish a guaranteed number of extra minutes or a fixed percentage improvement for an individual PC. The result depends on the device and what you are doing; no device-independent gain is established by the cited Microsoft documentation.
