To turn off TikTok Profile view history: open TikTok, tap Profile, tap the Menu ☰ button, choose Settings and privacy, tap Privacy, select Profile views, and switch off Profile view history.
This is a narrow privacy control. After you disable it, you cannot see eligible accounts that viewed your profile, and eligible users cannot see that you viewed theirs through TikTok’s Profile view history feature. It does not make your entire TikTok account anonymous or private.
How to turn off Profile view history in TikTok
- Open the TikTok mobile app and tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Choose Privacy.
- Tap Profile views.
- Turn Profile view history off.
The setting should change immediately in the app. TikTok’s labels and the location of some buttons can vary by app version, language, account eligibility, and feature rollout. If you cannot find the option, use the Settings and privacy route above rather than relying on an older screenshot or third-party guide. TikTok’s official instructions are available in its Profile view history Help Center article.
Two alternate ways to reach the setting
TikTok also documents alternate entry points:
- Open Inbox, go to Activity, select a profile-view notification or Profile views, and open the setting from there.
- From your own profile, tap the Profile views button if it is displayed, then use the settings control to disable the feature.
These shortcuts may not appear on every account. The main Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Privacy → Profile views path is the most dependable.

What happens when you turn Profile view history off?
The feature works both ways. When Profile view history is off:
- You no longer see which eligible accounts viewed your profile through this feature.
- Other eligible users no longer see that you viewed their profiles through Profile view history.
- You lose access to the Profile view history list while the setting is disabled.
TikTok describes this as a mutual visibility setting: you can see profile visits only from accounts that also have Profile view history enabled and that visited within the previous 30 days. Consequently, the visitor list was never a complete record of everyone who opened your profile. Someone may not appear because they turned the feature off, do not qualify to use it, or visited more than 30 days ago. See TikTok’s current Profile view history guidance for the documented limits.
Does turning it off delete previous profile views?
TikTok’s available Help Center guidance explains the reciprocal visibility rule and the 30-day window, but it does not specify a universal, guaranteed treatment for every previously recorded visit at the exact moment you switch the setting off.
The safest conclusion is that, once the setting is off, future profile visits are not shown through Profile view history, and you lose access to your own profile-view list. Do not rely on claims that every old entry is always deleted instantly—or that it remains for a guaranteed period—unless TikTok provides more specific guidance for your account and app version.

Does TikTok notify someone when you turn the setting off?
TikTok’s documentation describes the profile-visit visibility effect, but does not promise a special notification when someone toggles Profile view history on or off. Therefore, do not assume that TikTok sends a dedicated alert—or make a guarantee that it never will—based solely on the setting’s existence.
This does not make your TikTok account private
Turning off Profile view history is not the same as switching your account to private. It controls whether profile visits are displayed through one particular TikTok feature. It does not, by itself, change who can find your account, what people can see under your existing account and post privacy settings, or whether people can follow and interact with your public content.
If you want broader account privacy, review the other controls under Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Privacy. Those settings are separate from Profile view history and must be adjusted individually.
It does not hide every kind of TikTok activity
TikTok treats profile visits, post views, Story views, likes, comments, follows, and direct messages as different types of activity. Turning off Profile view history should not be described as a universal “anonymous mode.” In particular:

- Post views: TikTok has a separate Post view history feature with its own rules and eligibility requirements. Likes and comments can also remain visible as engagement under the conditions TikTok specifies. Read TikTok’s Post view history guidance for that separate feature.
- Stories: Story view history is separate from post view history and is not controlled by the Profile view history switch.
- Likes, comments, follows, and messages: These are direct interactions, not profile-visit records. Disabling Profile view history does not promise that those actions become invisible.
In practical terms, you can stop your profile visit from appearing through Profile view history while still leaving other visible traces of interaction—for example, liking a video, commenting, following an account, or viewing a Story.
Who can use Profile view history?
TikTok states that Profile view history is available only to users who are:
- At least 16 years old; and
- Following fewer than 5,000 accounts.
These are eligibility rules for this feature, not requirements for using TikTok generally. If your account is outside those limits, the Profile views option may be absent or unavailable. The feature is also described as optional and off by default in TikTok’s current Help Center guidance.

- Check eligibility. Confirm that the account meets TikTok’s stated age and follower-count requirements.
- Update TikTok. Install the latest available version from your device’s official app store, then reopen the app.
- Use the mobile app. TikTok’s documented navigation is app-based, and the web interface may not expose the same controls.
- Check both entry points. Look under Privacy in Settings and privacy, and check whether a Profile views button appears on your profile or in Inbox activity.
- Use TikTok’s support tools. If the option remains unavailable despite meeting the requirements, open TikTok’s in-app Help or Report a problem feature. Avoid unofficial browser extensions or tools that claim to change TikTok privacy settings.
Should you turn Profile view history off?

The trade-off is straightforward: disabling the feature gives you more privacy around profile browsing, but you give up the ability to see the eligible visitors that TikTok would otherwise list.

Is Profile view history the same as post view history?
No. They are separate features. Profile view history concerns visits to profiles, while post view history concerns views of posts and has separate rules. Story views are also handled separately.

Doing so stops the feature from showing your eligible profile visits to others, but it also prevents you from seeing your own eligible visitors.
