To fully turn off Bluetooth on an iPad, open Settings > Bluetooth and switch Bluetooth off. To disconnect accessories quickly without disabling Bluetooth completely, use Control Center. To remove a saved pairing, go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the actions button beside the accessory, choose Forget This Device, then confirm.
Choose the Bluetooth action you need
Turning Bluetooth off, disconnecting an accessory, and forgetting a device are different actions. Use the option that matches your goal:

How do I turn off Bluetooth on my iPad?
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Switch Bluetooth off.
Apple describes this Settings control as the way to completely disable Bluetooth for all networks and devices. Apple Support: Use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in Control Center.

For a quick pause, swipe down from the iPad’s top-right edge to open Control Center, then tap the Bluetooth control. This disconnects most connected accessories, but does not fully switch Bluetooth off. Apple notes that Bluetooth and related services remain available when you disconnect this way. Some connections or features are exceptions to this temporary disconnection. Apple lists Apple Watch, Instant Hotspot, Apple Pencil, certain accessories listed in Privacy & Security, and Continuity features such as Handoff. For complete deactivation, use Settings rather than Control Center.
How do I forget a Bluetooth device on iPad?
- Open Settings > Bluetooth.
- Find the accessory and tap its actions button.
- Tap Forget This Device.
- Tap Forget Device to confirm.
Forgetting a device removes its pairing; simply disconnecting it does not. If the Bluetooth device list is missing, make sure Bluetooth is on. Apple’s iPad guide to Bluetooth accessories.

AirPods behavior
Forgetting AirPods on iPad also unpairs them from other devices where you’re signed in to the same Apple Account. Apple documents this behavior for AirPods; it should not be assumed to apply to every Bluetooth accessory.
