To turn off a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, press and hold the Side button and Volume Down together until the power menu appears. Tap Power off, then tap Power off again to confirm. If the screen responds, you can also open the power menu from Quick settings.
Turn off the S22 Ultra with its buttons
- Press and hold the Side button and Volume Down at the same time for a few seconds.
- When the power menu appears, tap Power off.
- Tap Power off a second time to confirm.
Samsung’s model-specific setup instructions identify the Side button and Volume Down combination for opening the power menu on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra setup guidance and power instructions describe the same menu-and-confirm process.
Use Quick settings instead
- Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to open Quick settings.
- Tap the Power icon, commonly near the Settings icon.
- Tap Power off, then tap it again to confirm.
This screen-based option is useful if you prefer not to use the buttons. Quick settings layouts can differ by software version and device; if the Power icon is not visible, use the button combination instead. Samsung notes that the Quick panel’s layout is customizable and may vary. Samsung Canada’s Quick settings guidance was updated January 10, 2026.

Why holding the Side button may not show the power menu
The Side button can be configured to launch Bixby or another assistant when held. In that case, press Side and Volume Down together, or use the Quick settings Power icon. Samsung US lists Settings > Advanced features > Side button as the configuration path; labels and available options may vary by software version. See Samsung’s Side button customization instructions.
