If eSIM activation is failing on an imported HONOR phone, first verify the exact regional variant—not just the model name. HONOR warns that eSIM may not be supported in a phone’s country-of-origin version even when the model family appears on its support list. Then check Settings > About phone > EID. If an EID is present and the variant is eligible, connect to Wi-Fi and use the carrier’s activation method under Settings > Mobile network > SIM management > Add eSIM.
1. Confirm the exact HONOR variant supports eSIM
Find the full model code in Settings > About phone or on the phone’s box, and identify the market or country where the handset was originally sold. A shared family name does not establish that every regional version has the same hardware or eSIM support.
HONOR’s Global eSIM support page, last updated May 7, 2026, cautions: “Depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed above.” Check your exact model and origin market with HONOR rather than relying on a listing for a similarly named version. Open Settings > About phone > EID. HONOR UK says: “If the EID information is not displayed, it indicates that this feature is not supported on your phone.” An EID is a useful eligibility clue, but still verify the exact regional variant with HONOR. HONOR UK eSIM support.

If the EID or Add eSIM control is missing, prioritize checking regional support with HONOR; repeatedly scanning a QR code will not resolve an unsupported variant.
2. Confirm your carrier supports eSIM for this phone and plan
Check that the carrier offers eSIM in the country where you will use the phone, and ask whether it accepts your imported HONOR variant for the specific plan and account. HONOR provides a country-by-country carrier list, but says service availability varies by country and carrier; the list does not guarantee eligibility for an individual device or account. Ask the carrier to validate the device and provide a supported activation method. Its eSIM service, your account, the country, and the precise phone version all matter; a carrier’s general support for eSIM does not by itself confirm that it will activate this imported handset.
3. Retry activation with internet access
Keep the phone connected to Wi-Fi or another working internet connection while setting up the profile. Vodafone UK’s HONOR 400 Pro guide for Android 15 says internet access or Wi-Fi is needed to activate an eSIM. Vodafone UK: activate an eSIM on HONOR 400 Pro.

- Connect the phone to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings > Mobile network > SIM management > Add eSIM.
- Follow the on-screen prompts and use the activation method issued or supported by your carrier: scan its QR code, enter its manual activation details, or install a pre-assigned plan if the carrier offers that option.
If you cannot point the camera at the QR code, HONOR UK documents selecting a saved QR image. Labels and available options can differ across Magic UI and Android versions, so use the path and prompts shown on your phone rather than assuming another version’s menus will match. HONOR UK eSIM support.
4. Match the fix to the activation symptom
No EID or no Add eSIM option
Recheck the exact model code and country of origin with HONOR. If EID is not displayed, HONOR says the phone does not support eSIM. A model-family listing alone is not enough to establish support for an imported regional variant.

The QR code will not scan
Display the carrier’s QR code on another screen, or try selecting a saved QR image if that option is available on your phone. If scanning remains impractical, ask the carrier whether it offers manual activation details or another supported route. The credential must come from the carrier.
The QR code scans, but the profile will not download
Confirm that the phone is online, then ask the carrier whether the profile is valid for this exact device and account and whether it can issue fresh activation credentials. HONOR documents carrier-issued setup details, and Vodafone’s device guide specifies internet access; those sources do not establish one universal diagnosis for every download error.

The profile installs, but there is no service
Ask the carrier to confirm that the plan is active in your current country and that it accepts the phone’s exact regional variant. HONOR cautions that service varies by country and carrier. The available guidance does not establish a universal IMEI, network-band, or settings fix for every imported model.
You are transferring an existing eSIM
Check that the transfer is supported for both devices and by the participating carrier. HONOR says the new device must be unlocked for its transfer process; if the eSIM is moving from an iPhone, contact the carrier for assistance. Transfer availability is limited to certain models and participating carriers, so ask HONOR and the carrier to verify the specific combination.

Contact both HONOR and the carrier if the exact variant’s support or the activation failure remains unclear. Provide:
Recommended Free Tools
- The full model code and the phone’s country or market of origin.
- Your current country, carrier, and plan.
- Whether an EID appears under Settings > About phone.
- The activation route used: QR code, manual details, or carrier-assigned plan.
- The exact error message and whether this is a new activation or a transfer.
Give the EID or IMEI only when HONOR or the carrier requests it through an appropriate support channel. Ask the carrier to confirm that it accepts the imported variant and whether it can reissue the profile. Do not delete an existing eSIM profile or factory-reset the phone as a first troubleshooting step: the official guidance cited here does not establish either action as a fix for regional incompatibility.
