No End of Abyss-specific Steam Deck crash fix is verified in the available sources. The game is listed by Epic Games Store as a Windows PC release, with no SteamOS support information or Steam Deck compatibility rating on its listing. Start with basic Steam Deck stability checks, then test compatibility changes only if you are running the game through Steam.

What is known about End of Abyss on Steam Deck

Epic Games Store lists Section 9 Interactive as the developer and Epic Games Publishing as the publisher, and identifies Windows as the platform: End of Abyss on Epic Games Store. The listing does not establish SteamOS support or a Steam Deck compatibility rating.

Epic publishes these Windows PC requirements. They describe the PC release, not a guarantee that the game will run on Steam Deck:

Start by identifying when the crash happens

The available information does not identify a known crash trigger, so treat this as diagnosis rather than applying a supposed game-specific fix. Note whether End of Abyss crashes on launch, at the same scene, after a period of play, or whether other games also fail. Record how you installed and launch it, your SteamOS channel, and any Proton version if one is in use. Change one thing at a time so you can tell what affects the result.

Try the general Steam Deck stability checks

  1. Install available SteamOS updates. Check the Deck’s Software Updates section in Settings and install any available update.
  2. Restart the Steam Deck. Retest the game before making additional changes.
  3. Temporarily disable third-party applications. In particular, exit applications installed through Desktop Mode, then retest. If the crash stops, re-enable them one at a time to identify whether one changes the behavior.

These steps come from Valve’s general Steam Deck – Software Info & Troubleshooting Guide. They are reasonable first checks, not confirmed End of Abyss remedies.

Check the launcher before changing Proton

The Steam compatibility and Deck Verified controls apply to games in your Steam library. End of Abyss is listed on Epic Games Store as a Windows release, so Steam’s per-game compatibility controls do not automatically configure the Epic Games launcher or prove that the game works through it.

If you have added the game to Steam and a compatibility tool is available for that entry, you can test the latest Proton version as a reversible troubleshooting step. In Steam, open the game’s Properties, select Compatibility, enable the option to force a specific Steam Play compatibility tool, and choose the latest Proton version offered. Valve’s guide also recommends checking the game’s Deck Verified information and, where appropriate, lowering graphics settings. None of these steps is a verified fix for End of Abyss.

Valve warns that forcing Proton can cause Steam to download the Windows version if only a Linux version is installed. If your game is launched through Epic rather than installed as a Steam app, do not assume these Steam app instructions apply.

When to contact support

  • The Deck freezes or crashes in multiple games: If updating and restarting do not resolve broader stability problems, contact Steam Support.
  • Only End of Abyss fails: Use the current support route for the game or its publisher, Epic Games Publishing, and include the launcher, the step or scene that triggers the crash, and whether the failure is repeatable.

Do not rely on an unverified Proton build, launch command, graphics preset, or shader-cache deletion as a known solution. The sources checked on October 4, 2026 do not establish any End of Abyss-specific crash fix. Game patches, Proton, SteamOS, and launcher behavior can change, so consult current game support information if the problem continues.
