To transfer Pokémon from Pokémon HOME to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, use the Nintendo Switch version of HOME. Open Pokémon, select the game’s save data, move eligible Pokémon into a destination Box, and save your changes. The Scarlet or Violet save must be on the same console where HOME is running.
Before you start
- Use the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME for this transfer.
- Make sure the Scarlet or Violet save you want to use is available on the same console as HOME. Pokémon Support says HOME connects to game save data on the console where HOME is launched, including on Nintendo Switch 2. See Pokémon HOME on Nintendo Switch 2 FAQs.
- Check each Pokémon’s compatibility in HOME immediately before transferring. Compatibility is specific to the individual Pokémon and may change.
Transfer Pokémon into Scarlet or Violet
- Launch Pokémon HOME on the console with your Scarlet or Violet save.
- From HOME’s main menu, choose Pokémon.
- Select Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet, then choose the user whose save data you want to access.
- Check which Pokémon can enter the game. On Switch, select a Pokémon, open Check Summary, then press + to view Connected Games. Pokémon that cannot be moved to the selected game are marked. You can also check on mobile: open the Pokémon’s details and look under Games it can travel to. A grayed-out game icon means that Pokémon cannot travel to that game. Pokémon Support explains how to check compatible games.
- Select an eligible Pokémon and the Box in Scarlet or Violet where you want it placed. Pokémon Support’s instruction is: “Select the Pokémon you want to move and the Box to move them to.”
- Save your changes before leaving the Box view. For the full connection flow, see Pokémon Support’s instructions for connecting Pokémon HOME to different games.
How to tell whether a Pokémon can go to Scarlet or Violet
Do not rely on a species list or assume that every Pokémon stored in HOME can enter either game. Check the individual Pokémon’s Connected Games on Switch, or its Games it can travel to list on mobile. The current HOME compatibility indicator is the practical check for that Pokémon and destination.

What happens to a Pokémon’s moves?
A Pokémon may receive a move set it can learn in the destination game if it cannot learn all of its previous moves there. HOME keeps move sets per linked game; Pokémon Support says that returning a Pokémon to a game it has visited before restores the last move set it had in that game. Read Pokémon Support’s explanation of move changes.
Using HOME on mobile
The mobile app can show which games a Pokémon can travel to, but the connection instructions for placing Pokémon into Scarlet or Violet use the Nintendo Switch version of HOME. To access the same Pokémon Boxes in both versions, they must be set up with the same Nintendo Account; Pokémon Support explains this in its shared Boxes setup guide.
#1 Best Overall
- Embark on a new Pokémon adventure
- Catch, battle, and train Pokémon in the Paldea Region, a vast land filled with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, small towns, and sprawling cities.
- Choose either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly, to be your first partner Pokémon before setting off on your journey through Paldea.
- Embark on an independent study called the Treasure Hunt to gain new experiences, meet new people, and find your very own treasure.
If Scarlet or Violet does not appear
Confirm that HOME is running on the console that contains the game’s save data, then reopen the Switch version of HOME and select Pokémon again. If you recently moved to another Switch-family console, verify the save is available there before trying to connect.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
