To move data to a Motorola Razr Ultra, use the copy-data prompts during setup: choose the Android transfer or backup route if your old phone is Android, or follow the iPhone cable prompts if it is an iPhone. If setup is already complete, Android users can resume through Android Setup or the copy-data settings route; Motorola also documents an iCloud option for selected synced iPhone data.
Choose the transfer route that matches your old phone
| Route | Best fit | Needs | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Android device or Google backup | An old Android phone that is available, or data in a Google account backup | Wi-Fi; both phones should be charged and available for prompts | Some downloads, non-Google accounts, and other content may not copy. Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra help page lists categories to check. |
| Wired iPhone transfer | Content stored locally on a working iPhone | A data-capable cable compatible with the iPhone’s connector; both phones charged and unlocked | Some app data, iCloud files, and protected music may not transfer. Motorola’s iOS transfer guidance details exclusions. |
| iCloud migration | Selected data already synced to iCloud, or when the wired route is unavailable | iCloud sign-in and verification; a strong Wi-Fi connection | It applies to selected synced data, not a complete copy of everything on the iPhone. Motorola’s help page describes the route. |
Motorola’s guides cover multiple Razr generations and software builds, so menu labels can differ. Follow the prompts shown on your Razr Ultra if they do not exactly match the paths below.
Before you start
- Charge both phones. For the iPhone route, Motorola advises keeping each device above 30% battery; keep the phones unlocked during transfer.
- For Android migration, connect both phones to the same Wi-Fi network.
- For a wired iPhone transfer, identify the old iPhone’s connector before choosing a cable. A USB-C-to-USB-C cable fits newer USB-C iPhones; some older iPhones need a Lightning-to-USB-C cable that supports USB-C Power Delivery and data transfer. Motorola states: “A USB-C® cable is required. For some old iPhones, you may need a lightning to USB-C cable.” See the Motorola Razr Ultra user guide.
- If moving from an iPhone, Motorola’s guidance says to turn off iMessage and FaceTime before transfer.
- Do not erase or trade in the old phone until you have checked important files and can sign in to essential apps on the Razr Ultra.
Transfer data from an Android phone
During Razr Ultra setup
- Start setting up the Razr Ultra and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- When prompted to copy apps and data, choose the option to copy from an old Android phone or restore from a Google account backup.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the phones or select the backup, then choose the content to copy.
- Keep both phones available and follow the prompts until the transfer completes.
If setup is already complete
Motorola’s 2026 user guide gives two ways to return to the copy flow: open Android Setup > Continue Setup Wizard from the notification panel, or go to Settings > Back up or copy data > Copy data using Android Switch. The exact wording may vary by software build.
What can copy from Android
Motorola lists apps, music, contacts, messages, photos and videos, Google accounts, multimedia-message attachments, most settings, wallpaper, and call history among the content that can transfer. It also warns that downloads such as PDFs, apps installed outside the Play Store, non-Google accounts, some third-party contacts or calendars, and ringtones may not copy. Confirm that important documents and app-specific data are available separately before relying on the migration. Details are in Motorola’s Razr help page.

Transfer data from an iPhone with a cable
- Begin the Razr Ultra setup or transfer flow and select iPhone or iPad when asked which phone you are copying from.
- Connect the iPhone and Razr Ultra with a suitable data cable. Match the cable to the iPhone’s port: some older iPhones use Lightning rather than USB-C. Motorola specifies USB-C Power Delivery and notes that older iPhones may need a Lightning-to-USB-C PD cable.
- If the iPhone asks whether to trust or allow the connection, approve it. Keep the iPhone unlocked.
- Choose the content types offered by the Razr Ultra and let the transfer finish without disconnecting the cable.
Large iPhone transfers may take several hours, according to Motorola; the actual time depends on the amount of data and the transfer conditions. Motorola recommends charging both phones and keeping them unlocked, and its iOS guidance says to turn off iMessage and FaceTime first. For the full official instructions, see Transfer data from iOS devices to your Motorola phone.
Use iCloud if you cannot transfer by cable
Motorola documents an iCloud migration route for selected synced content. Before starting, make sure the contacts, calendars, reminders, notes, and photos you want are synced to iCloud and visible there. Then, on the Motorola phone:

- Sign in to iCloud and enter the verification code when prompted.
- Select the data types to migrate and start the transfer. Some types may need to be moved in separate batches.
Use a strong Wi-Fi connection and keep the Razr Ultra charged or plugged in. If the photos you need are already in Google Photos, sign in to the same Google account on the Razr Ultra to sync them; that is separate from copying files directly from the iPhone. Motorola’s steps and supported categories are described on its Razr help page.
What may not transfer
Migration is not a full mirror of the old phone. Motorola says the wired iPhone route may omit certain app data, files stored in iCloud, and DRM-protected music. Its Razr help page also lists FaceTime calls and voice-call history, iMessage effects, emergency alert messages, locked Notes, and the default wallpaper as items that will not transfer in the described route. Live Photos become static photos, and the cable route copies only photos and videos physically stored on the iPhone—not photos available only in iCloud. Use iCloud migration or Google Photos syncing for eligible cloud-synced photos instead.
Rank #3
- Universal unlocked: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and other prepaid carriers.
For either platform, check critical files, chat histories, authenticator access, and app-specific backups directly with the relevant service before wiping the old phone. Transfer tools cannot guarantee that every app’s private data or account access will move.
