How to Track Steam Game Prices and Set Sale Alerts

To track Steam game prices, add games to your Steam wishlist for basic sale notifications, use SteamDB to review Steam price history and watchlist games, or use IsThereAnyDeal to set configurable deal alerts. Before buying, check the currency, region, and date range behind a displayed low; a past sale does not predict the next one.

How to set up sale alerts

Turn on Steam wishlist notifications

1. Add a game to your Steam wishlist.
2. Review your Steam account email preferences and mobile-app notification settings. Steam says it can notify users about wishlisted titles on sale as Daily Deals, Midweek Deals, or Weekend Deals; you can opt out of email or disable mobile notifications. See Steam’s notification information.
3. If you rely on email alerts, verify your email address and check that email notifications are enabled. Valve’s Steamworks wishlist documentation describes these as conditions relevant to notification delivery.

Track Steam prices with SteamDB

1. Search for the game on SteamDB and open its Prices tab to inspect the price history chart or table.
2. Create a SteamDB account to use a watchlist, or manually import your Steam wishlist. SteamDB also offers a browser extension that can show lowest recorded price information on Steam store pages. Check the extension’s current details on SteamDB.
3. Use the history for the relevant currency and region when comparing an alert with earlier prices.

Set configurable alerts with IsThereAnyDeal

1. Add games individually to the IsThereAnyDeal Waitlist or import your Steam wishlist.
2. Review the service’s notification Rules and email setup.
3. Choose rules that match your buying threshold, then check the current settings and store coverage on IsThereAnyDeal.

What Steam wishlist alerts do—and do not—guarantee

Steam’s consumer-facing page says wishlist notifications cover sales for listed deal types. Valve’s developer documentation adds that promotional wishlist notifications have conditions: the discount must be at least 20%, apply to the lowest-priced package, and last more than eight hours. Those are Steamworks’ documented operational rules, not a promise that every user will get an instant alert for every price change. Email verification and user preferences matter; delivery can take hours, and a product-specific cooldown of about two weeks may apply and can extend during high-volume periods. How to tell whether a sale price is good

1. Pick a buying rule in advance. Set a maximum price or discount threshold that makes sense for your budget.
2. Compare the offer with price history. Use the history for the same game, currency, and relevant region rather than relying on a percentage-off label alone.
3. Check the tracker’s recording window. A displayed lowest price may mean the lowest price that service captured during its own data window, not an all-time low. Steam Dashboard, for example, labels its figure as the lowest captured within its recording window; the cited page said its prices were recorded through October 6, 2026. 4. Do not treat an earlier discount as a forecast. SteamDB says publishers choose discounts and it cannot know which games or prices will be discounted in an upcoming sale. A historical pattern is context, not a guarantee. See SteamDB.

How to choose between the services

• Use Steam’s wishlist if you want straightforward Steam-only notifications.
• Use SteamDB if your main question is how the Steam price has changed over time.
• Use IsThereAnyDeal if you want configurable deal rules and a waitlist that can import your Steam wishlist.

For any service, inspect its current alert controls rather than assuming that another tracker’s settings or retailer coverage apply.
