To follow a United flight, open the United app and check the trip’s flight updates. United says the app can show gate information, connection transfer time and boarding progression, with updates available in the notification tray or on the lock screen. If the flight is not visible in your trip, use United’s flight-status page to search by flight number or route.
Check flight updates in the United app
Open the United app and look for the flight in your trip. United’s Android app listing describes updates that include gate information, transfer time for connections and boarding progression. These details can help you follow what is happening before departure and while connecting.
United says flight updates can appear in the notification tray or on the lock screen. On Apple devices, the App Store listing also describes live lock-screen updates and Apple Watch updates. Those are update-display features; United’s listings do not specify a guaranteed refresh interval or establish that the app always shows an aircraft’s precise geographic position.

Optional: receive flight-status texts
United offers optional flight-status SMS notifications. Its text-messaging terms say customers can opt in during booking or check-in, or through the Phone Settings area of their united.com profile. Text messaging is unavailable in some countries, and mobile carriers may delay or fail to deliver messages. United does not guarantee the service’s availability or performance. See United’s text-messaging terms for details.
