Check the availability label on the exact set’s product page in your regional LEGO online shop. “Temporarily out of stock” means LEGO expects more stock; “Sold out” means a restock is possible but undated; and “Retired Product” means LEGO expects no more stock for that set. A missing product page alone does not prove that it is retired.
What LEGO’s availability labels mean
LEGO says the status appears below the price on a product page. Read the label literally: these terms describe different situations, and none gives a guaranteed restock date unless a specific shipping date is shown.
| LEGO status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Temporarily out of stock | LEGO expects to have more stock in the future. | Check the product page again later. This is not a retirement notice. |
| Sold out | LEGO may get more stock, but a date is not confirmed. | A restock is possible, but do not plan around a particular date. |
| Retiring soon | The set is expected to retire very soon. | Treat it as a last-chance signal, not a promise of a specific final sale date or remaining availability. |
| Retired Product | The set is no longer in LEGO’s current assortment, and LEGO does not expect more stock. | Do not expect LEGO’s shop to replenish it; check other retailers if you still want the set. |
| Backorders Accepted | You can place an order for shipment on a stated later date. | Check the product page for the stated shipping date. |
| Call to check product availability | The status can indicate low stock. | Contact LEGO using the number or support details shown for your region. |
These definitions come from LEGO’s availability-status guide. The guide defines “Temporarily out of stock” as: “The set isn’t currently available to order but we expect to have more in the future.” It defines “Retired Product” as: “The set is no longer in our current assortment and we won’t be getting any more stock.”
How to check a LEGO Nintendo set
- Search LEGO.com for the set’s exact name or, preferably, its set number. Open the result in the LEGO shop for your country or region.
- Look below the price on the product page and note the exact availability label.
- Use the table above to interpret the label. In particular, distinguish “Sold out,” which leaves a restock possible, from “Retired Product,” which means LEGO expects no more stock.
- If the product page is missing or the status is unclear, contact LEGO customer support for your region. You can also check an official LEGO Store.
Why a missing LEGO.com listing is not enough
A retired set may disappear from LEGO.com, but absence from search results is not conclusive. LEGO notes that future products may not yet be listed, and some early-access products require an Insiders account and sign-in. If you cannot find a product page, ask LEGO support rather than treating the missing result as a retirement confirmation. See LEGO’s guidance on finding retired sets.

Check the region and date before relying on a status
Availability labels can vary by country and change over time, so verify the exact product page in your regional shop before describing a set’s present status. For example, LEGO’s UK “Sets Retiring Soon” catalogue included Mario Kart™ – Piranha Plant Power-Up Pursuit and Mario Kart™ – Standard Kart when checked. That is a UK, time-specific example: it does not establish the current status in another country or the status of other Nintendo sets. View the UK retiring-soon catalogue for its current listings.

LEGO recommends checking an official LEGO Store and other retailers or online shops. Their listings may be new or used, and LEGO is not responsible for third-party sites. A retailer listing does not establish that the item is in stock or fairly priced, so check the listing itself carefully.
