Most Logitech mice that document a low-charge state use a red light, but the colour, the blink pattern and the action it calls for depend on the model. Logitech does not use one signal across its range. To know whether your battery is low, identify the exact mouse, turn it on, read the LED rule in that model’s official guide, and check Logitech Options or Logi Options+ if your model supports battery notifications.

Identify the exact mouse first

Every battery signal below is model-specific. Before you read any colour, confirm which mouse you have:

  • Turn the mouse over and read the model number on the underside label.
  • If you use Logitech Options or Logi Options+, the device name shown in the software identifies the model and tells you whether battery warnings are available for it.
  • Search Logitech Support for that model number and open its battery guide. Do not rely on a pattern you saw on a different Logitech mouse.

Read the LED signal at power-on

Logitech’s support article on battery indicators states the principle plainly: “Your mouse uses LED lights to indicate battery status.” (Logitech Support, “Mouse battery status indicators.”) On most models the status light is visible only briefly. The general guide says the LEDs light when the mouse is turned on and then turn off to conserve power, so you need to look right after switching the mouse on.

The timing differs by model. On the M535, M336 and M337, the top LED stays lit for about 10 seconds after power-on. On the G304 and G305, a red warning blinks for about 30 seconds after the mouse is switched on. If you miss the first few seconds, switch the mouse off and on again.

Mouse (per Logitech’s official guide) Healthy charge Low charge Critical level or action
General Logitech example chart Three green LEDs = 100%; two green = 66% One green = 33%; one red = 10% Not stated in the general guide
M535, M336, M337 (top LED) Solid green = good Blinking red = low Solid red = replace the battery
MX Master Three green = fully charged; two green = good One green = low One red = recharge
G304, G305 Not stated in the guide reviewed Red = below 15%; blinks for 30 seconds after power-on Not stated
G602 Not stated in the guide reviewed Flashing light-blue LED Not stated
G900, G903 Battery level shown for seven seconds at power-on, or while off and connected to an active USB power source One flashing red bar = 15% or less Plug the mouse in to charge
Signature AI Edition M750 Steady green = 100% to above 5% Pulsing red = critical level (described as about one month of median use) or below Uses one AA alkaline battery

The general chart is an example, not a guarantee for every Logitech mouse. Treat the model’s own guide as the authority. The percentage figures and the 15% and 5% thresholds come from Logitech’s support pages for those specific models and are not measured on your unit. Logitech’s guide pages do not show a revision date in the versions reviewed, so if your mouse’s light disagrees with its guide, check the current guide for your model before drawing conclusions.

Recharge or replace?

A low signal means different things depending on whether the mouse is rechargeable or uses a replaceable battery. The guide for your model tells you which.

  • Replace: On the M535, M336 and M337, solid red means the battery should be replaced, while blinking red means the charge is low but not yet at that stage. On the M750, the guide specifies one AA alkaline battery.
  • Do not assume the battery type: The AA alkaline requirement applies to the M750 as stated by Logitech. For any other model, confirm the battery type in that model’s guide before buying a replacement.

Check the level in Logitech software

If the LED is hard to read or your model is not listed above, supported Logitech software can show battery status or send low-charge warnings. Logitech’s support material says Options can provide low-charge warnings in general. Its M750 guide specifically refers to Logi Options+ warnings. The G602 support page describes checking battery status in Logitech Gaming Software. Software support depends on the device, so if your mouse does not appear in the software’s device list, rely on the LED guide for your model.

When the light is unclear

Work through these steps in order:

  1. Confirm the model number from the underside label and open its official guide.
  2. Switch the mouse off and on, and watch the LED within the window the guide gives: about 10 seconds for the M535, M336 and M337, and 30 seconds for the G304 and G305 red warning.
  3. Check Logitech Options or Logi Options+ for a battery status or low-charge warning if your model supports it.
  4. For a rechargeable model, plug it in to USB power and charge it fully before judging the signal again. On the G900 and G903, the battery level appears when the mouse is connected to an active USB power source.
  5. For a replaceable model, install the battery type the guide specifies. For the M750, that is one AA alkaline battery.
  6. On the G304 and G305, Logitech notes that other LED functions can take priority, so a missing red warning does not by itself prove the charge is adequate.

If the light still disagrees with the guide after a full charge or a fresh battery, contact Logitech Support with your exact model number.
