Press and release the Side button and Volume down button at the same time to take a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5. Find saved captures in Gallery → Albums → Screenshots. For content longer than one screen, take a screenshot and tap Scroll capture in the toolbar.
Take a standard screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press and release the Side button and Volume down button simultaneously. Holding them may trigger a different action, so use a quick press and release.
- Open Gallery and look in the Screenshots album to view the saved image.
Samsung’s 2023 Galaxy Z Fold5-family manual gives this instruction: “From any screen, press and release Side button and Volume down button.”
Use Palm swipe to capture
If pressing both buttons is inconvenient, enable the hand gesture at Settings → Advanced features → Motions and gestures → Palm swipe to capture. Then keep the edge of your hand in contact with the screen and swipe it from one side to the other.

Capture a scrolling page
Scroll capture can extend a screenshot to include content below the visible screen, such as a long webpage.
- Take a normal screenshot with the buttons or Palm swipe.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture to continue capturing below the screen. Tap it again as needed while the page continues.
- Stop when you have captured the content you need, then open the saved image in Gallery.
The Scroll capture control may not appear if the content fits on one screen. Support also depends on the app or website; some do not allow scrolling capture.

Edit, share, and adjust screenshot settings
When the screenshot toolbar is available, it can offer actions such as writing or drawing on the image, cropping, tagging, sharing, and extending a capture of scrollable content. The toolbar’s display is configurable, so it may not appear after every capture.
In screenshot settings, the Fold5 manual lists options to show the toolbar after capture, delete screenshots after sharing, hide the status and navigation bars, keep the original screenshot after edits, choose JPG or PNG format, and choose a save location. The available labels and options may vary by software version and region.

What to do if a screenshot is blocked
Samsung says some apps and features do not allow screenshots. A protected screen may therefore prevent capture, and there is no general screenshot workaround to rely on. If the app blocks capture, follow its available sharing or export options instead.

A screenshot saves a still image. To capture motion, Samsung documents a built-in Screen recorder accessible from the Quick panel and lists the Galaxy Z Fold5 among supported models. Recording may also be restricted: Samsung cautions that copyright protection can prevent recording some photos and videos.
