A normal screenshot records only what is visible in the current viewport. To capture content below the fold, use your browser or phone’s full-page feature: Firefox has Save full page, Chrome provides Capture a full size screenshot in DevTools, iPhone Safari offers Full Page from the screenshot preview, and supported Samsung Galaxy phones provide Scroll capture.
The best method depends on your platform, the format you need, and whether the page is static or dynamically loaded. Follow the matching procedure below, then use the troubleshooting and automation sections for difficult pages.
Choose the right full-page screenshot method
| Platform | Built-in control | Typical output | Steps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox desktop | Take Screenshot → Save full page | Image download | Short |
| Chrome desktop | DevTools → Capture a full size screenshot | Image download | More setup |
| iPhone Safari | Screenshot preview → Full Page | Apple documents saving as PDF | Short |
| Samsung Galaxy S23-series | Screenshot toolbar → Scroll capture | Extended screenshot | Short |
These controls are documented for the products and versions linked in this guide. Browser menus and phone controls can change after software updates. The Samsung instructions below come from the Galaxy S23-series manual and should not be treated as universal Android steps.
Firefox desktop: save the entire page directly
Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool is the most direct desktop workflow. Mozilla documents region capture, detected-section capture, visible-area capture and full-page capture in its Take screenshots in Firefox guide.

- Open the webpage in Firefox and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot. If the context menu is inconvenient, press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- In the screenshot toolbar, select Save full page.
- Download the resulting image and open it to check the bottom of the page and any important dynamic content.
If you only need one article section, choose an automatically detected section or drag a region instead. Full-page capture is preferable when the page layout, headings and sequence must remain intact.
Chrome desktop: capture a full-size screenshot with DevTools
Chrome’s documented full-size route uses DevTools Device Mode. The Device Mode documentation explains the emulation controls and the full-page capture command.
- Open the target page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with F12, Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows/Linux, or Command+Option+I on macOS.
- Turn on Device Mode by selecting the phone/tablet icon in the DevTools toolbar. The full-size command is documented from this mode.
- Open the DevTools More options menu and choose Capture a full size screenshot.
- Locate the downloaded image in your browser’s download folder and inspect it at its full dimensions.
You can also open Chrome’s Command Menu with Control+Shift+P on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+P on Mac, then search for screenshot actions. Google documents the menu at Run commands in the Command Menu. Chrome’s earlier release documentation records the full-page screenshot feature at What’s New In DevTools (Chrome 59); the current menu wording can differ.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen Chrome’s result is incomplete
Before capturing, scroll through the page once if it uses lazy-loaded images. Make sure the correct frame or tab is active, and close DevTools overlays that obscure content. A nested element with its own scrollbar may not be treated as part of the document’s main page; capture that element separately or use an automation tool that can target a selector.

iPhone Safari: use Full Page from the screenshot preview
Apple’s iPhone screenshot guide says that a screenshot can capture an entire webpage in Safari. Apple’s documented full-page workflow saves the result as a PDF, not as a conventional PNG image.
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Take a screenshot using your iPhone’s button combination.
- Tap the thumbnail preview when it appears in the corner of the screen.
- Select Full Page at the top of the preview editor.
- Use Save PDF to Files or the available share controls to store or send the capture.
The preview shows a page-length representation so you can verify that the lower sections were included. If Full Page is not offered, the current screen may not be a supported document view, or the content may not be an ordinary Safari webpage.
Samsung Galaxy: use Scroll capture
The European English Galaxy S23-series manual describes an extended capture control for elongated content such as a webpage. It does not establish identical controls for every Android manufacturer or Samsung software release.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Open the webpage or other long content.
- Take a screenshot using your phone’s normal screenshot button combination.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap the Scroll capture icon.
- Continue tapping the icon, or let the capture advance as provided by your software, until the required content is included.
- Save the resulting elongated image and review its lower edge.
Consult the manual for your exact model if the icon is absent. A different Android phone may use another label, place the control in a three-dot menu, or omit scrolling capture altogether. The cited S23-series instructions are in Samsung’s user manual.

Image or PDF: decide before you capture
Use an image when you need to paste the page into a design, compare visual layout, or share a single raster file. Use PDF when you need a document that is easy to file, print or annotate. Firefox and Chrome’s documented workflows download an image; Apple’s iPhone instructions describe saving the full-page result as a PDF. The official material here does not establish one universal output format across every browser and device.
Check readability
- Very long pages become extremely tall images. Zoom in before judging text quality.
- Sticky headers may appear repeatedly or overlap content, depending on the browser’s capture implementation.
- Animations, carousels and advertisements can change while the page is being assembled.
- Infinite feeds may have no final bottom. Capture a defined section or use a fixed viewport and stopping condition.
Dynamic pages, frames and restricted content
Full-page capture is not a guarantee that every visual element will render exactly as it does during manual scrolling. Lazy images may load only after they approach the viewport. A page can contain an embedded frame, a nested scrolling panel, a consent dialog or a bot check that changes what is visible.
- Lazy loading: scroll through the page first, wait for images, then capture.
- Nested scroll area: scroll the panel itself or capture it by selector with an automation service.
- Cookie or newsletter overlays: dismiss them before capture when the page allows it.
- Authentication: sign in in the same browser context; do not share credentials in a screenshot URL or script.
- Bot checks and CAPTCHAs: a screenshot tool may be unable to proceed. Do not attempt to bypass an access control.
Or skip the browser setup: ScreenshotNeo
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It accepts one GET request and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture, it accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and whether the request was billed.

Troubleshooting extended captures
The capture stops at the visible viewport
In Firefox, choose Save full page, not Save visible. In Chrome, use Capture a full size screenshot from DevTools rather than a normal operating-system screenshot. On iPhone, select Full Page in the screenshot preview.
Images or charts are missing
Wait for the page to finish loading and scroll through lazy content before retrying. If the content is inside a nested panel or frame, the browser may not include it in the document capture.
The page is cut off or duplicated
Sticky navigation, infinite scrolling and scripts that react to viewport changes can produce seams or repeated elements. Disable the fixed header where the page permits, capture a finite section, or use selector-based automation.
The phone has no full-page option
Apple’s control is specific to supported Safari views. Samsung’s Scroll capture is documented for the Galaxy S23-series manual reviewed here, not all Android devices. Update the device software and check the exact model manual; otherwise use a desktop browser or ScreenshotNeo.

Chrome’s DevTools commands are hard to find
Open the Command Menu with Control+Shift+P on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+P on Mac and search for screenshot. DevTools labels can move between releases.
The API response is not a usable screenshot
Check the HTTP status, API key, URL encoding and timeout. Inspect X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers to distinguish a clean capture from a bot check, blank page, timeout, failed load or cache hit. Keep credentials server-side and capture only pages you are permitted to access.
