To capture a page from top to bottom in Chrome, install and open the FireShot extension, then choose its Capture entire page command. FireShot scrolls through content that is outside the current viewport and prepares one continuous capture for saving or exporting.
Capture an entire webpage with FireShot
- Open the page. Navigate to the webpage you want to capture in Google Chrome. Let the page finish loading; pages that add content while scrolling may need additional preparation described below.
- Open FireShot. Select the FireShot icon in Chrome’s toolbar. If it is hidden, open Chrome’s Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon), find FireShot, and select it. Pinning FireShot keeps the button visible.
- Choose the full-page command. Select the option labeled Capture entire page (wording can vary slightly by listing or release). This mode is intended to include content below the visible browser viewport, not just what is currently on screen.
- Wait for processing. FireShot scrolls and assembles the page. Avoid switching tabs or interacting with the page until the capture editor or save screen appears.
- Save or export. Choose an image or PDF destination, then select a filename and folder. The Chrome Web Store listing identifies PDF, PNG and JPEG output; the FireShot product site also lists GIF and BMP.
The result is a single long image when you choose an image format. A PDF is more suitable for printing or sharing a document-like copy, especially when selectable text and links are important.
Choose the right FireShot capture mode

FireShot’s Chrome listing also describes copying captures to the clipboard, printing, attaching them to Gmail, and batch capture of tabs or a URL list. Availability of particular export and editing commands depends on the installed edition.

Prepare pages that do not capture cleanly
Expand content before capturing
Accordion sections, “Load more” controls and tabbed content are often not part of the page until you activate them. Open the sections you want, click any required load controls, and then run Capture entire page.

Handle lazy-loaded images
Some pages request images only as they approach the viewport. Scroll through the page once, wait for images to appear, return to the top, and capture again. If an image is still missing, check whether an ad blocker, privacy extension or network error prevented it from loading.
Stop moving overlays
Cookie banners, chat bubbles and sticky headers can appear in every segment of a long capture. Close or minimize them before invoking FireShot. If a fixed header is repeated in every section, try the extension’s editing tools or hide the element with a page-specific browser rule; FireShot’s basic workflow does not guarantee removal of every overlay.
Use a stable page state
Pause videos, stop carousels when possible, and wait for fonts and web fonts to finish loading. A page that continually changes while FireShot scrolls can produce mismatched sections or duplicate elements.

PNG
PNG preserves sharp text and interface edges and is usually the best choice for documentation, code and diagrams. Very long pages can create large files, so check the dimensions before uploading them.
JPEG
JPEG generally produces smaller files for photographic pages. Compression can blur small text and introduce artifacts around high-contrast edges.

PDF is convenient for printing and document workflows. The Chrome Web Store listing identifies PDF as a save format, while its upgrade description mentions PDF output containing direct links and text. Treat those link and text features as edition-dependent rather than assuming they are available in every installation.
GIF and BMP
The FireShot product site lists GIF and BMP in addition to the formats identified by the Chrome listing. Check the format menu in your installed version before planning a workflow around either format.
Edit, annotate and share the result
After capture, FireShot can present an editor for cropping, adding annotations and marking important areas; the product site and Chrome listing describe editing and annotation, with some capabilities presented as upgrade features. Use crop or resize when a complete page is too large for a ticketing system or email attachment. For review work, arrows, rectangles and text labels make the target area unambiguous.
Use clipboard copy for a quick paste into a document or chat, print when a paper copy is required, and save the original file before annotating so you can return to an unmodified capture. Gmail attachment and batch-capture options are described in the Chrome Web Store listing, but the exact controls can change with the extension release.

Privacy and local storage
The FireShot Chrome Web Store listing says the developer declares that it will not collect or use user data and describes screenshots as being stored locally. Those are publisher disclosures, not an independent privacy audit. The listing’s wording is: “Screenshot is done instantly and stored locally. It never leaves your computer, so it’s 100% safe for storing a sensitive information.” Treat the absolute safety language as promotional wording. Your page can still be exposed to Chrome, the operating system, other installed extensions, cloud folders you choose as a destination, and anyone who receives the exported file.
Version and listing information
The Chrome Web Store listing identified version 2.1.4.18, updated 23 May 2026, with 3,000,000 users and 4.8 stars from 52.1 thousand ratings at the time represented by that listing. These figures are volatile metadata; the listing notes that ratings are updated daily and may not reflect the newest reviews. They do not constitute an independent performance comparison.
Troubleshoot incomplete or distorted captures
Only the visible screen was saved
You probably selected Capture visible part or another viewport command. Reopen FireShot and choose Capture entire page. If the command is unavailable, update or reinstall the extension from its current Chrome Web Store listing.
The bottom of the page is missing
Look for content that loads only after scrolling, an infinite-scroll feed, or a sign-in wall. Load the content manually first. Infinite pages have no fixed end, so capture a bounded section or use a selected/scrolling-area mode.

Images are blank or duplicated
Wait for network requests and lazy images, disable an extension that blocks the page’s image host, and retry in a clean tab. A page that changes its layout during scrolling can also create duplication; pause animations and capture again.
A cookie banner or chat widget covers text
Dismiss the banner and close the widget before capture. If it returns on navigation, clear the page’s saved consent state or use a private window where appropriate, then repeat the capture.

Save as JPEG for a smaller photographic file, crop unnecessary sections, or export to PDF. For extremely long pages, split the work into meaningful sections rather than producing one impractically tall bitmap.
PDF links or text are unavailable
The listing presents direct-link and text-preserving PDF output among upgrade features. Confirm which edition is installed and whether the feature is enabled; otherwise save a standard PDF or PNG.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can FireShot capture a page that requires scrolling inside a panel?
Use FireShot’s scrolling-area capability when available in your edition, or select the panel region and capture that bounded area. A normal entire-page command targets the document, not every nested scroll container.
Does FireShot require the page to be public?
No general public-page requirement is stated. It operates in your signed-in Chrome session, but pages protected by authentication, permissions or bot checks may still limit what the browser can render.
Is a FireShot capture automatically an accessible document?
No. A screenshot is primarily visual. If readers need selectable structure or screen-reader semantics, provide the original HTML or an appropriately authored document in addition to the image or PDF.
