Open the website in Safari, take a normal screenshot, then tap its thumbnail and choose Full Page. You can save the result as an image in Photos or as a PDF in Files. The button combination is different on iPhones with and without a Home button.
Take a regular screenshot of a website
Use Safari for the clearest path to a webpage capture. Scroll to the part of the site you want visible, then use the button combination that matches your iPhone.

iPhone without a Home button
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up button at the same time.
- Release both buttons immediately. A thumbnail appears near the lower-left corner.
iPhone with a Home button
- Display the webpage in Safari.
- Quickly press and release the Side button and the Home button together.
- Release both buttons when the thumbnail appears.
A screenshot taken this way is saved automatically to your photo library. Tap the thumbnail if you need to edit, crop, annotate, or convert the capture before leaving the preview.

A normal screenshot records only what is currently visible. Safari’s Full Page option can extend the capture beyond the screen, which is useful for a long article, receipt, documentation page, or terms-of-service page.

- Open the target page in Safari and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Take a screenshot using the button combination for your iPhone.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail before it disappears.
- At the top of the preview, tap Full Page.
- Use the page preview or scroll bar to inspect the captured length. Drag the crop handles if you want to remove material above or below the section you need.
- Choose an output destination. Select the option to save an image to Photos, or choose Save PDF to Files when a document is more useful than a picture.
The full-page workflow is documented for an entire webpage in Safari. It is separate from simply taking several ordinary screenshots and stitching them together: the preview represents the page as one long capture that you can review and crop before saving.
Choose the right output format

Choose the image route when the recipient expects a picture. Choose PDF when search, filing, or document-style sharing matters. The two routes are different workflows, so do not assume their pagination or rendering will be identical.
Crop, mark up, and save without losing the original
Crop a long page
In the screenshot preview, move the crop handles to exclude navigation, advertisements, or unrelated sections. Inspect the whole page before saving; a small crop window can hide content that is farther down the capture.

Add annotations
Use the preview’s markup controls for arrows, shapes, text, or a signature when you need to point out a defect or highlight a passage. If the desired result is a marked-up webpage document, start from Safari’s Share button, choose Markup, annotate, and then use the save option. Safari’s toolbar can be positioned at the top or bottom, so the Share button’s location depends on that layout.
Save to a predictable location
Images go to Photos. A PDF created with Save PDF to Files goes through the Files picker, where you can select a folder such as On My iPhone or a cloud provider that is enabled in Files. Give the file a descriptive name before confirming if you expect to retrieve it later.
Alternative ways to trigger a screenshot
If pressing two physical buttons is difficult, Apple also documents screenshot triggers through Siri, AssistiveTouch, and Back Tap. These alternatives still begin with a screenshot; open its thumbnail afterward if you want the Full Page option. Availability and the exact settings path can vary with your iPhone configuration, so use the accessibility controls already enabled on your device.

Troubleshooting common problems
No thumbnail appears
- Press and release the two buttons quickly rather than holding them down. Holding the Side button can open the power interface instead.
- Confirm that you used Volume Up, not Volume Down, on a model without a Home button.
- On a Home-button model, press Side and Home at the same moment. If one button is pressed noticeably earlier, try again with a shorter, sharper press.
- If physical buttons are unreliable, use Siri, AssistiveTouch, or Back Tap.
The Full Page tab is missing
- Take the screenshot while the webpage is open in Safari, then tap the thumbnail immediately.
- If you dismissed the thumbnail, take another screenshot; the Full Page choice is presented in the screenshot preview.
- Make sure you are looking at the preview’s top controls, where the view switches between the visible screen and the full-page capture.
The capture is too long or contains unwanted sections
Use the preview’s crop controls before saving. Scroll through the page preview first, then trim the beginning or end. For a very long page, consider saving a PDF to Files so the result is easier to store as a document, or capture only the relevant visible sections as separate images.
The page looks incomplete
Wait for the webpage to finish loading before taking the screenshot. If images or text are loaded only after you scroll, move through the page once so the content you need has appeared, then capture again. Review the Full Page preview rather than assuming every section rendered correctly.
I need notes on a document, not a picture
Use Safari’s Share → Markup PDF workflow. It is designed for annotating and saving a webpage document, while the screenshot preview is designed first for image capture and full-page screenshots.

The saved file is difficult to find
Check Photos for image captures. For PDFs, open Files and look in the folder selected in the save dialog. If you used a cloud location, check that provider’s folder rather than On My iPhone.

- One-off personal capture: Safari and the built-in screenshot controls require no account, API key, or extra software.
- Quick sharing: The thumbnail lets you crop or annotate immediately and send the image from the phone.
- Offline filing: Saving a PDF to Files keeps the result with other documents on the device or an enabled cloud provider.
- Repeatable development work: An API is more suitable when the same page, many URLs, or scheduled captures must be produced consistently.
For a single webpage on your iPhone, use the built-in Safari workflow first. Move to an API when automation, batch capture, cleanup of consent overlays, or machine-readable delivery is the actual requirement.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I save a full-page capture as both an image and a PDF?
Yes. From the screenshot preview, save an image to Photos, then repeat the capture and choose Save PDF to Files if you need both formats.
Is Safari’s Markup PDF the same as the screenshot Full Page PDF?
No. They are separate Safari workflows: Full Page starts from the screenshot thumbnail, while Markup starts from Share and is intended for annotating a webpage document.
