For a full webpage in Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, then choose Capture full page. That captures content below the fold without manual scrolling. Other browsers use different flows: Firefox starts from Take Screenshot, while Chrome uses DevTools’ Command Menu rather than a single browser shortcut. First decide whether you need the visible screen, a selected region, or the entire webpage.
Choose the capture you actually need
A visible-screen screenshot records only what is currently displayed. A selected-area capture records a rectangle you choose. A full-page webpage capture includes content below the fold and is the right choice for a long article, landing page, documentation page, or audit record. Operating-system shortcuts generally target the display or a region; browser capture tools are the ones that can assemble a complete webpage.
| Goal | Best documented route | What it captures |
|---|---|---|
| Entire webpage | Edge Ctrl+Shift+S then Capture full page; Firefox Take Screenshot then full page; Chrome DevTools full-size command | Visible content plus content below the fold |
| Visible screen | Windows Snipping Tool overlay or Chromebook Ctrl+Show Windows | The current display |
| Selected area | Edge capture UI, Windows Snipping Tool, or Chromebook Shift+Ctrl+Show Windows | Only the rectangle or region you select |
The shortcuts below are for desktop browsers and Chromebook. Key names and command labels can vary with operating-system keyboard layouts and browser versions.

Microsoft Edge: the fastest full-page shortcut
- Open the webpage.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- In the Screenshot interface, select Capture full page.
- Review the result, then use the available controls to mark it up, copy it, or save it.
Microsoft describes this as capturing everything at once with no scrolling required. You can choose an area instead when a complete page is unnecessary. The shortcut opens Edge’s Screenshot feature; it is not an immediate one-key save to a fixed folder.
#1 Best Overall
- KEYBOARD: The keyboard works for Windows with hot keys that enable easy access to Media, My Computer, Mute, Volume up/down, and Calculator
- EASY SETUP: Experience simple installation with the USB wired connection
- VERSATILE COMPATIBILITY: This keyboard is designed to work with multiple Windows versions, including Vista, 7, 8, 10 offering broad compatibility across devices.
- SLEEK DESIGN: The elegant black color of the wired keyboard complements your tech and decor, adding a stylish and cohesive look to any setup without sacrificing function.
- FULL-SIZED CONVENIENCE: The standard QWERTY layout of this keyboard set offers a familiar typing experience, ideal for both professional tasks and personal use.
If the combination does not open the tool, check that the page has focus and that another application or keyboard utility has not intercepted the keys. You can also open Edge’s Screenshot feature from the browser interface and use the same Capture full page option.
Firefox: use Take Screenshot, then save with the keyboard
- Right-click an empty part of the webpage.
- Select Take Screenshot.
- Choose the full-page option rather than the visible-page option.
- Save or copy the resulting image. On Windows or Linux, press Ctrl+S to save it; on macOS, press Command+S.
Firefox’s built-in flow supports both the visible portion and the full webpage. The save shortcut is a separate step: Ctrl/Command+S saves the screenshot after you have selected the capture type.
If Take Screenshot is missing from the context menu, right-click on the page itself rather than on a form control, image, or browser chrome. The command is supplied by Firefox’s page context menu, not by the operating system’s generic screenshot tool.
Chrome: use DevTools’ Command Menu
Chrome’s regular browser shortcut list does not provide a dedicated full-page screenshot key combination. The practical keyboard route is DevTools:

- Open DevTools with Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows or Linux, or Command+Option+I on macOS.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on macOS.
- Type
screenshot. - Select the full-size screenshot command if it appears, then wait for Chrome to generate the image.
Chrome’s Command Menu documentation confirms the keyboard access and screenshot commands. The exact command wording can change between Chrome and DevTools versions, so look for the entry that says full size or equivalent. If only viewport or area commands are listed, choose the one matching your required scope.
Opening DevTools does not change the page being captured, but it does add a setup step compared with Edge. Keep the page at the URL and state you want before invoking the command; a logged-out, consent-blocked, or otherwise different state will produce a different screenshot.
Windows and Chromebook shortcuts for the visible screen
Windows Snipping Tool
Windows Snipping Tool can be launched with its keyboard shortcut, after which you choose a full-screen or region mode. This is useful when you need what is currently visible, a dialog, or a selected rectangle. Microsoft’s Snipping Tool guidance does not describe this overlay as an automatic scrolling webpage capture, so it should not be your first choice for content below the fold. Use Edge, Firefox, or Chrome’s full-page route for that job.
Chromebook
- Ctrl+Show Windows captures a screenshot.
- Shift+Ctrl+Show Windows captures a partial screenshot.
- Ctrl+Shift+Show Windows opens additional screenshot features.
These Chromebook combinations are display-oriented. The Chromebook shortcut documentation does not describe them as automatically scrolling through a webpage, so use a browser’s full-page capture flow when the page extends beyond the screen.

Windows, Linux, and macOS: which key should you press?
| Platform | Browser or tool | Keyboard path | Full-page capability documented? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows/Linux | Edge | Ctrl+Shift+S, then Capture full page | Yes |
| Windows/Linux | Firefox | Context menu Take Screenshot; save with Ctrl+S | Yes |
| Windows/Linux | Chrome | Ctrl+Shift+I, then Ctrl+Shift+P, search screenshot |
Yes, when the full-size command is available |
| macOS | Firefox | Context menu Take Screenshot; save with Command+S | Yes |
| macOS | Chrome | Command+Option+I, then Command+Shift+P | Yes, when the full-size command is available |
| Chromebook | ChromeOS screenshot controls | Ctrl+Show Windows or partial-capture variants | Not described as automatic scrolling |
Edge’s documented shortcut is written with Ctrl; if your macOS Edge installation presents different bindings, open the Screenshot feature from Edge’s interface and select the same capture mode. The browser-specific workflow, rather than the operating system alone, determines whether content below the fold is included.
How to get a reliable full-page result
Prepare the page
- Navigate to the exact URL and wait for the page to finish loading.
- Dismiss anything that obscures the content if you need an unobstructed image.
- Set the page to the correct signed-in state, language, and viewport before capturing.
- For a visible-screen snip, scroll to the exact area first; a screen tool will not infer that you wanted the rest of the page.
Confirm the scope before saving
Check that the result reaches the bottom of the document when you selected full page. A viewport image can look correct while silently omitting lower sections. In Firefox, remember that choosing full page and saving are separate actions. In Chrome, verify that the selected Command Menu entry is the full-size option rather than a viewport or region command.
Expect dynamic-page differences
Pages that load content as you move through them can produce a result different from the first screen you saw. If an image, panel, or embedded element is missing, wait for it to load and run the capture again. Keep the browser window and page state unchanged between attempts so you can tell whether the problem is the page or the capture mode.

The image contains only the visible viewport
You selected a screen or area mode instead of a full-page mode. In Edge, choose Capture full page; in Firefox, choose the full-page option after Take Screenshot; in Chrome, select the full-size Command Menu command. Windows and Chromebook display shortcuts are not documented as scrolling captures.
Chrome has no full-size command
Open DevTools first, then reopen the Command Menu and search for screenshot. Command labels vary by version. If the list still contains no full-size entry, use Edge or Firefox’s built-in full-page flow for this capture.
Firefox will not save the result
Finish the capture selection first. Then use Ctrl+S on Windows/Linux or Command+S on macOS. Saving before the screenshot UI has produced an image will invoke the browser’s ordinary save behavior instead.
The screenshot is blocked by a banner or widget
Close the banner or widget before using a browser capture. If it cannot be dismissed, an automated capture service that handles consent and overlays before rendering may be more suitable.

ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, so you do not need to open DevTools or manually assemble a long page. Its capture process can accept cookie and consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each step can be turned off.
Only clean shots are billed. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.

Options for repeatable captures
Beyond a basic screenshot, ScreenshotNeo supports full-page capture with lazy images loaded, a single element selected by CSS selector, dark mode, 12 device presets or any viewport, retina scale, PDF paper size, margins, landscape mode and page ranges, HTML/CSS to image, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicking an element before capture, hiding selectors, waits for a selector, delay or network idle, blocking ads, trackers, requests or resource types, custom headers, cookies, user agent and Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, image resizing, a chosen cache TTL, signed links for public <img> tags, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can simplify a migration.
An MCP server supplies take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools to Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. Every feature is included on every plan: 1,000 shots per month are free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Yearly billing provides two months free. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account to try the 1,000-shot allowance.
When a shortcut is the right tool
Use a browser or operating-system shortcut when you need a one-off image while viewing a page. Edge is the shortest documented full-page path, Firefox keeps the workflow inside its context menu, and Chrome is useful when DevTools is already part of your workflow. Use an API when captures must run repeatedly, target many URLs, produce PDFs, remove overlays consistently, or be triggered by an AI agent or a build process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do these shortcuts work on a phone or tablet?
The documented combinations here cover Windows, Linux, macOS desktop browsers, Windows Snipping Tool, and Chromebook. Mobile browser screenshot controls are different and are not specified by these procedures.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Is a full-page capture the same as selecting the entire screen?
No. Selecting the entire screen records the current display. A full-page browser capture includes webpage content below the fold and may be substantially taller than the display.
Can I change the output format with the browser shortcuts?
The procedures describe saving or copying the browser-generated image, but they do not promise a selectable PNG, JPEG, or WebP format. ScreenshotNeo’s API explicitly returns PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF.
