Use a full-page or scrolling capture command—not the ordinary screenshot shortcut. On desktop, Firefox and Microsoft Edge include built-in full-page tools. Chrome desktop offers a DevTools command-menu workflow reported by the Chrome Help Community. On iPhone, choose Full Page from the screenshot preview; on Android 12 and later, use Capture more (or Chrome’s Long screenshot). Always inspect the result when the page contains lazy-loaded media, nested scroll areas, fixed headers or interactive widgets.
What a scrolling screenshot captures
A normal screenshot records only the pixels currently visible in the browser window. A scrolling, full-page or full-size screenshot stitches content below the fold into one capture, so a long article, dashboard or landing page can be reviewed without taking dozens of separate images. The result may be a very tall image; saving as PDF can be more practical when your goal is reading or printing, but PDF rendering can reflow text and omit interactive elements.
Before capturing, scroll through pages that load content on demand. Wait for images, cards and embedded sections to finish loading, then return to the top and run the full-page command. This reduces—but cannot eliminate—the chance of missing lazy-loaded content.

Microsoft Edge on desktop
Edge’s Screenshot tool is designed to capture content that would otherwise require scrolling. Microsoft describes it as capturing a full webpage, including the parts below the current view.
- Open the target page in Edge.
- Open Screenshot. Microsoft lists Ctrl+Shift+S as a shortcut on Windows.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Inspect the capture, then save it or copy it using the controls displayed by your Edge version.
If the shortcut does not open the tool, use Edge’s menu or command search to locate Screenshot; keyboard mappings can differ by platform and release.

- Open the page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows or Linux, or Command+Option+I on macOS.
- Open the DevTools command menu with Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+P (macOS).
- Type screenshot.
- Select Capture full size screenshot.
Chrome downloads the resulting image using its normal download settings. If the command is absent, confirm DevTools has focus, search for “full size” rather than “screenshot,” and check the menus in your installed version. A browser update or an alternate browser’s built-in tool may be quicker than troubleshooting an unavailable command.
iPhone and Safari: use Full Page
Apple’s screenshot workflow can save an entire supported Safari webpage, not just the visible screen.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On models with a Home button, press the Home and side buttons together.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail when it appears.
- At the top of the editor, tap Full Page.
- Review the long preview and crop if needed.
- Save or share it with the available controls. Apple notes that screenshots are saved to the photo library.
Apple describes the capability this way: “You can capture what’s on your iPhone screen, grab a full page beyond the edge of the screen, or save a specific portion.” See Apple’s screenshot instructions for model-specific button guidance. The Full Page tab is offered for supported content such as Safari webpages; it will not appear for every app or screen.
Android phones and Chrome for Android
Android 12 and later: Capture more
Google says scrolling screenshots work on most screens that allow scrolling on Android 12 and later. Phone makers can change the controls, and some screens do not support the feature.

- Tap Capture more in the screenshot controls.
- Drag the crop guides to include the required content.
- Save or share the result.
Chrome’s Long screenshot option
Chrome for Android documents a separate route: open the page, tap More (three dots), choose Share, select Long screenshot, drag the crop handles, then confirm. This is distinct from the operating system’s Capture more control, so try the route your device exposes.
Android version, manufacturer skin, app and page type determine whether either option appears. If neither does, update Chrome and the phone software, or capture the page on a desktop browser.
Make the capture complete and readable
Load content before capturing
- Scroll from top to bottom once so lazy images and sections have a chance to load.
- Wait for spinners, ads and embedded media to settle.
- Close consent dialogs or sign-in overlays that cover the page, when permitted.
- Use a stable window size; resizing during capture can alter responsive layouts.
Check difficult layouts
Nested scroll areas (a table inside a page), sticky headers, carousels, infinite feeds and chat widgets can produce overlaps or missing sections. A full-page command may capture the outer document but not the content inside an independently scrolling panel. Capture that panel separately, use a PDF when document continuity matters, or try another browser’s full-page tool.

Choose an output
- PNG: best for sharp text, diagrams and transparency, but files can be large.
- JPEG: smaller files for photographic pages, with lossy compression.
- PDF: useful for reading, printing and sharing; expect possible reflow or omitted interactive elements.
Common problems and fixes
Only the visible screen was saved
You used the ordinary screenshot shortcut or a tool’s viewport mode. Repeat the process and explicitly choose Save full page, Capture full page, Capture full size screenshot, Full Page or Capture more.
Images or sections are missing
The page probably loads content while scrolling, or the capture started before resources finished. Scroll through the page first, wait for network activity and animations to stop, then capture again. For an infinite-scroll feed, stop loading at the intended endpoint; there may be no finite “whole page.”

The result has repeated or cut-off fixed headers
Sticky elements are a known edge case. Try another browser’s full-page tool, temporarily collapse the header if the site allows it, or hide the problematic selector with a capture utility. Verify the final image at several points rather than trusting the preview alone.
A nested panel is truncated
Full-page tools generally follow the document’s main scroll, not every internal scroll container. Scroll the panel independently and capture it, export its data, or use a tool that can target an element by selector.

Confirm the screen actually scrolls, update the operating system and Chrome, and try the alternate entry point. Android’s Capture more and Chrome’s Long screenshot are separate features. Some apps intentionally disable scrolling capture.
The image is too large to share
Crop unused areas, resize or export to JPEG, or save a PDF. For archival quality, keep the original PNG and create a smaller copy for messaging.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. It can load lazy images for full-page captures, target one element by CSS selector, set a viewport or device preset, use retina scale, apply custom CSS or JavaScript, click before capture, hide selectors, wait for a selector, delay or network idle, block ads/trackers/requests/resource types, supply headers, cookies, a user agent, Authorization, timezone or geolocation, and cache with a chosen TTL. It also supports bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, signed links, an API usage endpoint and an OpenAPI specification.

FAQ
Is a scrolling screenshot the same as a PDF?
No. A scrolling screenshot preserves a rendered image of the page. A PDF is a document representation that may reflow text or omit interactive elements.
Can I capture an infinite-scroll page “all at once”?
Usually not. Infinite feeds have no fixed endpoint. Capture a defined range after loading the items you need, or export the underlying data when available.
Why does Chrome’s method have a qualification?
The detailed desktop steps cited here come from the Chrome Help Community, not primary Chrome documentation, so command names and availability can change with Chrome versions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a full-page capture include content behind a login?
Only if the browser session is already authorized and the capture method can access that session. Never share a capture containing private account data without checking it first.
What should I do with a very tall image?
Keep the original for reference, then crop or resize a copy for sharing; export to PDF if readers need a paginated document.
