To take a long screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy phone, first take a regular screenshot by pressing Side/Power + Volume Down together. When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture—the icon with two downward arrows—to extend the image down a scrollable page. Tap the icon again or press and hold it to capture more, then tap outside the toolbar to finish. Samsung says the image is saved to Gallery.
Take a scrolling screenshot on a Galaxy phone
Samsung calls the long-screenshot control Scroll capture. It appears in the toolbar after a screenshot, rather than as a separate camera mode. Use it on content that continues below the screen, such as a webpage or article. Samsung describes it as capturing long content in one image; the exact menu labels and availability can vary by model and software version.
- Open the webpage, article, chat, or app screen you want to capture. Make sure the content extends below the visible screen and can scroll.
- Press the Side/Power button and Volume Down at the same time, then release. A screenshot toolbar should appear.
- Tap Scroll capture, shown as two downward arrows. The phone scrolls and adds the next section to the screenshot.
- To capture farther down, tap the Scroll capture icon again. You can also press and hold it to continue scrolling.
- When the image includes the content you need, tap anywhere outside the toolbar to stop. The completed screenshot is saved automatically to Gallery.
The control extends the screenshot in increments as the phone scrolls; it does not automatically guarantee that every item in a very long page will fit into the final image. Watch the preview as you go and stop when you have captured the part you need.

Find, edit, or share the result
Open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots to find the image. Samsung also documents My Files > Images as another way to locate screenshots. From the image, use the share icon to send it. Gallery can also be used to edit or tag the saved screenshot.

When Scroll capture is missing
The most common reason is that the screenshot toolbar is turned off. Another is that the current screen has nothing farther down to scroll. App restrictions and differences between Galaxy models or software versions can also affect whether the control is available.
Turn on the screenshot toolbar
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features.
- Open Screenshots and screen recorder. On some devices, the menu is labeled Screen capture.
- Turn on Show toolbar after capturing.
- Take another screenshot and check the toolbar for the two-arrow Scroll capture icon.
Samsung’s US support page documents the toolbar setting and Scroll capture. Menu wording can differ with the phone model and software version, so if the path does not match your screen, look under Advanced features for the screenshot or screen-capture settings. Check whether the screen can scroll
Scroll capture is offered when scrolling is possible. If you are on a short page, a static image, or a screen that already fits within one display, there may be no additional content for the phone to append. Try a longer webpage or article, scroll it manually to confirm that more content exists, then take a fresh screenshot.

Some apps or screens block screenshots for privacy, security, or copyright reasons. If the phone blocks the initial screenshot, Scroll capture will not bypass that restriction. Availability and button placement also vary with model, Android or One UI version, carrier, and region. How to get a better long screenshot
- Start at the right position. Scroll to the beginning of the section you want before taking the standard screenshot. Scroll capture extends from that starting view.
- Use the preview as a stopping point. Each tap appends more content. Stop once the needed material is visible rather than capturing a longer image than you need.
- Check the saved image. Open it in Gallery and inspect the top, middle, and bottom. If the capture stopped early, repeat the process and extend it farther before tapping outside the toolbar.
- Plan for sharing. A tall image may be harder to read in a messaging preview. If the recipient needs only a particular part, edit or crop a copy in Gallery, or share the full image when preserving the whole sequence matters.
Samsung does not give a universal pixel-height or file-size limit for Scroll capture in the cited support material. It says the possible scroll length varies with the content, and captures may be resized before saving. Avoid assuming that every app or page will produce an image of the same dimensions.

What Scroll capture does—and does not do
Scroll capture combines successive portions of a scrollable screen into a single long screenshot. You trigger it after taking a standard screenshot, and the result is an image saved to Gallery. It is not the same as screen recording: it does not create a video of scrolling or preserve the page as an interactive document. It is also distinct from capturing a webpage through a developer tool or API. Use the phone feature when you want an image of content currently open on the Galaxy and the app allows screenshots. Use a URL-based service only when you need to request a webpage capture separately; it will not expose content hidden behind a login or app restriction unless the service is configured and authorized for it.

Does Scroll capture save a PDF?
Samsung’s described flow saves the long capture as an image in Gallery. It does not describe the Scroll capture result as a PDF.
Is there a universal maximum length for a Galaxy scrolling screenshot?
