To switch a Samsung Galaxy to 4G, open Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network mode and choose an available option that includes LTE or 4G. The setting only lets the phone use that network mode; an LTE connection also depends on your phone, carrier service, SIM, and local coverage.
Change the network mode to LTE or 4G

Open Settings.

Tap Connections, then Mobile networks.

If your phone has two SIMs, select the SIM whose network setting you want to change.

Tap Network mode or the similarly named option.

Choose an available mode that includes LTE or 4G. An example on some Samsung phones is LTE/3G/2G (auto connect); choose the closest LTE/4G-inclusive option your device offers.

Wait for the phone to reconnect. If it does not, restart it and check the network indicator in the status bar.

Menu names and available modes differ by model, software, carrier, and region. Samsung notes that “Menu names, settings, and screen layouts may vary depending on the model and software version.” If these steps do not match your phone, check its manual or Samsung support page.
What the network-mode choice means
Look for LTE or 4G in the option name. An automatic mode that includes LTE and older networks allows the phone to use LTE when available and fall back to an older network when conditions or availability require it. The precise options depend on the device and carrier; no single mode is available or best for every Galaxy.

Selecting LTE does not guarantee an LTE connection or a particular download speed. Your phone must support the network, your carrier and line must provide service, and LTE coverage must be available where you are. The phone may use 3G or another available network instead.
If LTE is missing or the phone stays on 3G
No LTE option appears
Network-mode choices vary. Check the phone’s manual or model-specific Samsung support information, then ask your carrier whether your phone model and line support LTE. Do not rely on hidden dialer codes as a universal way to unlock an unavailable setting.

An LTE mode is selected, but there is no LTE data

Check the carrier’s coverage for your current location and test somewhere with better reception.

Confirm that the correct SIM is selected, Airplane mode is off, and mobile service is active. Ask the carrier to check the SIM, service, and network provisioning if needed.

Refresh the connection by restarting the phone. Samsung also recommends checking the SIM and coverage when mobile data does not work.

Check software and network configuration

Install any available software update, then check whether LTE connects.

If the issue continues, look in your phone’s settings for an option to reset mobile network settings. Read the on-device prompt before confirming, because resetting changes network configuration.

If needed, restore the APN settings to their defaults using the mobile-network settings on your device. Follow the on-screen instructions; menu labels vary.
If your Galaxy supports Samsung Members diagnostics, run its mobile-network checks. For ongoing service, SIM, or coverage problems, contact your carrier; Samsung support is another option for device-specific help.
