You generally can’t start a TikTok LIVE directly from a gaming console using the documented workflow. Instead, send the console’s video to a computer through a compatible capture card, then stream from the computer with OBS Studio or TikTok LIVE Studio if those controls are available on your account. Check LIVE access before buying equipment.
What you need to stream console gameplay on TikTok
- A TikTok account that can start LIVE and, if you plan to stream from a computer, access to TikTok’s browser-based LIVE controls.
- A computer running OBS Studio or TikTok LIVE Studio.
- A compatible capture card to bring the console’s video into the computer. OBS documents capture cards as video capture sources.
- A plan for routing game audio and microphone audio, if you want both in the stream.
TikTok’s browser-based instructions identify LIVE Studio for Windows and OBS Studio for Linux, macOS, and Windows. OBS’s documentation explains how to add a capture card as a video capture source. The reviewed documentation does not establish a direct console-native TikTok broadcast route or guarantee that computer-based LIVE controls are available to every account.
Check that your TikTok account can go LIVE
TikTok Support says creators must be at least 18 and generally need 1,000 followers to go LIVE; the follower threshold may vary by region. TikTok also states, “Only creators who meet the eligibility requirements can go LIVE on TikTok.” See TikTok’s LIVE eligibility information and its guidance on LIVE access issues.
Before spending money, check whether LIVE is available in your account and whether the computer or browser streaming controls appear. TikTok’s help information does not confirm that every account or region has the same controls.

Choose a computer streaming app

TikTok identifies these apps for starting a browser-based LIVE in its browser LIVE instructions. The available documentation does not establish a complete current stream-key procedure or prove that every account sees an identical setup flow. Follow the controls TikTok presents to your account rather than assuming a particular stream-key route.
Connect the console to OBS with a capture card
- Connect the console’s video output to a compatible USB HDMI capture card, following the card maker’s connection instructions.
- Connect the capture card to the computer and open OBS Studio.
- Add a video capture source and select the capture card. OBS describes this source type as a way to add webcams and capture cards.
- Choose a resolution and frame rate supported by the capture device. On Windows, OBS says the device driver must support DirectShow output.
OBS documents the source and device settings in its video capture sources guide. Compatibility depends on the capture card, its driver, the computer’s operating system, and the video modes the device supports; check the device specifications rather than assuming any card will work.

Set up game and microphone audio
Plan how game sound and microphone sound will enter the stream, then select and check the relevant devices in your streaming software. OBS’s capture-device settings include an audio output mode and an option to link a custom audio device. Confirm that the chosen configuration produces audible audio in the stream preview and that levels are usable.
A separate microphone, webcam, splitter, or special cable is not established as a universal requirement. Whether you need additional equipment depends on your console, capture card, computer, and preferred audio setup.

Test the stream setup before going public
- Confirm the capture card appears as a video capture source in OBS.
- Check that the selected resolution and frame rate are supported by the device.
- Verify that game audio and any microphone audio you intend to use are present.
- Confirm that TikTok’s LIVE controls are available and follow the setup flow shown for your account.
These checks follow from the device and configuration controls OBS documents; they are practical setup checks, not results from a compatibility test of a particular card or console.
