To pickpocket in Crimson Desert, equip a mask, then walk into an NPC until the pickpocket prompt appears. If you want to check whether the target is worth approaching, raise your lantern near them first. After stealing, leave the red-marked crime area promptly to avoid further trouble.
Get and equip a mask
Game guides describe a mask as the prerequisite for theft and pickpocketing. PC Gamer says you can buy one at the Back Alley Shop in Hernand; its Jeffrey bounty guide also says the bounty quest can provide a mask. IGN lists purchasing, looting, and receiving a mask as a reward as other possibilities, but its guide was surfaced through a proxy host, so treat it as secondary corroboration. Availability and progression can vary; check what is accessible in your current game.

Scout an NPC with the lantern
Game8 reports that raising the lantern near an NPC reveals what they may be carrying. Examples include copper pouches and rings, while nobles may carry gold bars. The lantern can also show that a character has nothing available to steal, helping you decide whether to approach them.

Trigger the pickpocket prompt
- Equip your mask.
- Walk into or bump the NPC you want to pickpocket. Ordinary interaction is not the method described by the guide.
- When the on-screen pickpocket prompt appears, follow it to attempt the theft.
Game8 says the prompt can appear suddenly and recommends walking so it is easier to notice. The available guide material does not establish dependable, current button mappings for each platform, so use the prompt shown in your game rather than relying on a fixed keyboard or controller instruction.

Game8 reports that a red radius marks the crime area after a theft. Leave that marked area promptly: the guide says exiting clears the immediate status, while staying can lead to being wanted and receiving a bounty. PC Gamer also advises avoiding detection and reports that theft can reduce Contribution.
