To start a bounty in Cattle Country, go to the Sheriff’s building and check the Wanted Posters. Pick up a bounty, track the wanted bandit in the wilderness, defeat the target, then return to Sheriff Tom to claim your reward.
How to accept and complete a bounty
- Visit the Sheriff’s building. Look for a Wanted Poster.
- Pick up a bounty. The publisher’s instructions do not specify a separate menu or interaction beyond taking a bounty from the poster.
- Head into the wilderness. Search for the wanted bandit named by the bounty.
- Defeat the target.
- Return to Sheriff Tom to collect the reward.
Playtonic’s announcement does not state that a particular story milestone, relationship level, or other progression requirement must be met before Wanted Posters appear. If you cannot find a poster, the official instructions do not identify a specific unlock condition to check.

Wanted Posters are separate from bandit camps
Bandit camps can appear as you explore the overworld, and the publisher says they may offer plunder. Camps are a separate encounter; Playtonic does not describe clearing one as a requirement for accepting or completing a poster bounty. Playtonic’s update announcement outlines both activities.

Playtonic announced the PC update on August 24, 2026, and announced its console release on October 5, 2026. If the new content is not showing up, check Cattle Country’s Steam page or your console’s game page or update manager. The publisher’s announcements confirm availability but do not document a universal installation procedure.

- Buried Treasure. Did yer hear? There's treasure in the mines, for those who are brave enough to look for it. From precious metals and minerals to bandit stashes. Grab your pickaxe and venture out into the thrill of prospecting.
What else Bandits & Bounties adds
The update expands the frontier beyond bounty hunting. Its other features include:
- Overworld trouble: Random robberies or shootouts can occur at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter, and Bank.
- New crafting and gathering options: The Toolbelt lets you craft away from a crafting table; the Extra Large Bag adds inventory space to four rows; the Animal Trap gathers animal resources; the Rock Tumbler processes rocks and can uncover rare gems; and the Tailoring Table makes clothes and hats.
- Character customization: New outfits, hats, head accessories, and red hair.
- A seasonal fishing spot: Visit the docks on Tuesdays and Saturdays to access a special spot with fish from every season.
- Additional improvements: Expanded NPC dialogue, inventory counts displayed beyond 9,999, and assorted bug fixes and improvements.
These additions are listed in Playtonic’s update announcement and its console release announcement. The Steam listing identifies Cattle Country as a single-player frontier life sim developed by Castle Pixel and published by Playtonic Friends; its listed release date is May 27, 2025.
