To check a Flipkart sale deal, first confirm the offer on Flipkart’s official website or app. Then compare the exact product and variant with its price history, and check the final checkout total—not just the advertised percentage. A copied logo, HTTPS padlock, countdown timer, or unusually large discount is not proof that a page or offer is genuine.
Check that the offer really leads to Flipkart
The safest starting point is to open the official Flipkart app or type flipkart.com into your browser yourself, then search for the product or offer. Flipkart’s consumer guidance says, “Only Flipkart owns the domain ‘flipkart.com.’” A page can copy Flipkart’s logo and layout without belonging to the company.
Inspect the full website address
- Check the domain carefully for misspellings, extra words, or an unfamiliar ending such as .biz.
- Do not assume a site is official because its address contains the word “flipkart.” The full domain matters; a deceptive address may include the name as part of a different site.
- HTTPS encrypts a connection but does not prove that a website is Flipkart. Verify the domain and the offer through the official app or website.
Flipkart describes lookalike domains, copied designs, missing HTTPS, and broken site behavior as warning signs in its guide to spotting fake Flipkart websites and apps. No single visual clue confirms a scam, but an unfamiliar domain is reason to stop and verify independently.
Be cautious with ads and urgent messages
A very low price for an expensive product, a countdown, or pressure to act immediately can be used to push shoppers into clicking before they check. These signs do not prove an offer is fake, but they are reasons to leave the ad or message and look for the deal directly on Flipkart. Flipkart also advises checking promotions through its official channels in its guidance on fake Flipkart ads.

Do not pay or share sensitive information outside the platform
Be wary if a supposed Flipkart seller or representative asks you to transfer money to a personal UPI ID or bank account, scan an external QR code, or complete payment through an unrelated site. Flipkart flags such requests in its scam advisory. Do not share your password, OTP, PIN, or banking details with someone claiming to represent Flipkart.
If a message makes a deal seem urgent, do not use its payment link to resolve doubts. Open Flipkart separately and check whether the product and offer are there. For a suspected fraud, use Flipkart’s official channels and consult its advisory for reporting information; confirm current reporting details before submitting a report.

Check whether the discount is meaningful
A displayed discount percentage is not enough to tell you whether you are getting a good price. Compare the same product, model, variant, and included quantity, then look at both its earlier prices and the amount you will actually pay.
- Match the item precisely. A different storage size, color, model year, bundle, or quantity can have a different price. Make sure the comparison is for the same item and seller context.
- Look at price history. A historical price graph can help show whether today’s listed price is unusual compared with that product’s earlier prices. Buyhatke says its Flipkart tracker includes a price graph, store comparisons, and alerts. These are the vendor’s descriptions of its service; they do not independently verify the data or guarantee that a deal is genuine.
- Separate unconditional reductions from conditional offers. Treat a card discount, exchange value, or other benefit as conditional until you have checked who qualifies and what requirements apply. Do not count it as a saving available to every shopper.
- Check the checkout total. Review the amount payable and any charges or conditions before placing the order. Compare that total with what you would otherwise pay for the same product.
There is no universal historical-price period or formula established here for deciding whether a Flipkart discount is “real.” Price history is a useful comparison, not a legal determination or a guarantee that a price will not change.

Why the checkout amount matters
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs’ September 26, 2025 release described a Central Consumer Protection Authority order involving FirstCry: a product advertised at 27% off was effectively discounted by 18.2% after GST was applied at checkout. This was a FirstCry case, not a finding about Flipkart, and it should not be treated as evidence that Flipkart used the same practice.
The release says the applicable e-commerce rule requires the total price, including charges and taxes, to be displayed upfront. Its example illustrates why shoppers should compare the advertised offer with the amount payable, rather than relying only on a headline percentage. The CCPA characterized the practice in that case as drip pricing and said disclaimers did not override the requirement that MRP include taxes. Read the Ministry’s account of the FirstCry order.

What consumer-protection guidance says
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs says the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023 were issued by the Central Consumer Protection Authority on November 30, 2023. The Ministry describes dark patterns as design and choice architecture used to deceive, coerce, or influence consumers, and lists drip pricing, disguised advertisements, bait and switch, and false urgency among the examples. Its December 8, 2023 release says such practices fall under unfair trade practices as defined in the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Read the Ministry’s release on the guidelines.
