If a message claiming to be from ASOS feels doubtful, don’t reply, tap its link, or open an attachment. Go to ASOS independently through its official website or app and contact Customer Care from Help. A logo, familiar display name, or polished design is not proof that a message is genuine.
Check who contacted you—and verify the channel independently
ASOS says it contacts customers through ASOS-branded email addresses or verified social media accounts. On social media, look for the account’s verified badge; a copied name, logo, or profile image can be misleading. ASOS identifies social media impersonation, fake Gmail accounts, WhatsApp messages, and fake websites as ways scammers may pose as the retailer. A message arriving through one of those channels is not automatically fraudulent, but you should verify it without relying on the message itself.
For email, ASOS advises caution if a message lacks its logo or if you have any doubt about its authenticity. A logo’s presence does not authenticate the sender, either. If you’re unsure, leave the message and reach ASOS through the official site or app instead. ASOS: How do I know I’m talking to ASOS?
Look for requests and links that put you at risk
- Requests for secrets: ASOS says it will never ask for card details or a password in social DMs. Treat requests for passwords, payment information, or other personal details as a serious warning sign.
- Unexpected links or attachments: ASOS advises not clicking links or opening attachments when an email seems inauthentic or its authenticity is in doubt.
- Unusually attractive offers or pressure: Be cautious if a message pushes you to act quickly or promises something that seems too good to be true.
- A destination you cannot verify: Don’t judge a link by its visible text alone. ASOS recommends hovering over a link to check its URL when possible. On a phone, pressing and holding may show a link preview, but if you already doubt the message, the safer choice is not to open the link at all.
A padlock or HTTPS connection does not prove that the sender is ASOS or that a link in a message is safe. Avoid using the message’s link as your way to reach the retailer; type the official address yourself or open the app you already use.

What to do with a suspicious ASOS message
- Stop interacting with it. Don’t reply, click, open attachments, or provide information.
- Open ASOS independently. Use the official app or type the ASOS website address in your browser; don’t follow a link in the message.
- Contact Customer Care from Help. Ask whether the message or request is genuine, and report suspected impersonation. ASOS’s security guidance also directs people to Action Fraud for suspicious activity.
- If you shared a password, change it. Navigate independently to the real account and change the password. Change it anywhere else you reused it; ASOS recommends unique passwords, especially for email and ASOS accounts.
- If you shared card or bank details, contact your provider. Use the bank or card issuer’s official app or phone number, and review your transactions. ASOS advises against sending full card numbers or screenshots of bank accounts by email or live chat.
If you received an unauthorized ASOS push notification
ASOS’s live notice about an unauthorized notification says to disregard it and not click or engage with its external link. The notice describes unauthorized activity involving third-party platforms used to communicate with customers and says ASOS restricted access and was investigating. At the time reflected on that notice, ASOS said basic personal information such as names and contact details may have been accessed, but it did not believe payment-card information or account passwords were impacted. That is ASOS’s assessment at the time of the notice, not a guarantee about later developments. Check the notice itself for the latest status, without following a link in the notification: ASOS: Unauthorised ASOS Notification.
