To sign out of a streaming app on a smart TV, open that app and look in its profile, account, settings, or help menu for Sign out, Log out, or Remove account. If you no longer have the TV, use the streaming service’s official device-management or account-permissions controls to revoke access, when available. The right route depends on the service and app interface.

Sign out on the TV you can access

  1. Open the streaming app you want to sign out of—not the TV’s general settings.
  2. Open its profile or account area. Check the profile picture, account page, settings, or help menu for a sign-out option.
  3. Choose Sign out or Log out and confirm if prompted. Choose Remove account only if you want the app to forget that account on the TV.

Menu names and locations can differ by service, TV brand, model, app version, and region. If the option is not obvious, use the service-specific steps below or its official TV support page.

How to sign out of Netflix on a TV

Netflix’s documented route is to open the app menu with the remote’s Back button, select Get Help, then choose Sign out. In some layouts, Get Help appears at the bottom of a menu on the left. See Netflix’s TV-app troubleshooting instructions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If no sign-out route appears, Netflix documents this remote-button sequence for some TV app interfaces: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up. A menu may then offer sign-out, reset, or deactivate options. This is a Netflix-specific fallback for some interfaces, not a general shortcut for other apps or every TV.

How to sign out of YouTube on a smart TV

  1. Open YouTube’s left-side menu.
  2. Select your profile picture to open the accounts page.
  3. Select the account you want to disconnect.
  4. Choose Sign out to sign out, or Remove Account to remove that account from YouTube on this TV.

Google also provides remote controls through device activity and through Google Account permissions. Removing YouTube on TV access in Google permissions signs the account out of devices using YouTube on TV; it can therefore affect more than one TV. Follow YouTube’s instructions for signing out or removing an account to choose the appropriate route.

Sign out of a TV you no longer have

Use the streaming service’s official account or device controls from a phone or computer. Remote controls vary in whether they let you sign out one device, all devices, or revoke a service permission.

Netflix: sign out a device or all devices

Open Netflix’s Manage Access and Devices page to sign out an individual listed device or all devices. The list is not a complete, real-time inventory: Netflix says a device can take up to 48 hours to appear, and some devices or activity may not be shown. A missing entry does not prove the account was never used on that TV.

Disney+: manage devices remotely

In a mobile or web browser, sign in to Disney+, open your profile and Account, then under Access & Security select Manage Devices and log out of the device or devices you choose. Disney+ says the device details can include device type, general last-used location, activity date and time, and—on profiles where age requirements apply—the last-used profile. These details are specific to Disney+ and should not be expected in every service’s device list. See Disney+ device-management instructions.

YouTube: revoke TV access through Google

For a TV you cannot reach, use YouTube’s documented device-activity or Google Account permission controls. Removing YouTube on TV access signs the account out of devices using that access, so it is broader than removing one account locally from one TV. The available controls and their scope are described in YouTube Help.

Signing out of a streaming app is not signing out of the TV account

Smart TVs may also have a manufacturer account, separate from Netflix, YouTube, or other streaming services. If you only want to remove a streaming profile from a shared TV, use that app’s sign-out option; signing out of the manufacturer account is a broader action.

What to do if there is no sign-out button

  • Check the app’s profile, account, settings, and help menus. The control may be nested rather than visible on the home screen.
  • Look up the service’s official TV-specific instructions. App layouts vary, and a button sequence documented for one service may not work in another.
  • If you no longer have the TV, try remote device or permission controls. Not every service offers one-device remote sign-out, and some controls apply more broadly.
  • Do not treat deleting the app as signing out. App deletion manages installed software; it is not the same account action. For example, LG’s app-management guide explains installing and deleting apps, not signing out of a service.
  • Do not factory-reset the TV as the ordinary first step. It is a much broader action than signing out of one app. A replacement remote is only relevant if your current remote is missing or its navigation buttons do not work.

Choose the right sign-out scope

Situation Best place to start Scope to check
You can use the TV and want to disconnect one app That app’s profile, account, settings, or help menu The selected app account on that TV
You no longer have the TV The service’s official device-management or account-permissions page One device, all devices, or devices using a particular service permission, depending on the provider
You want to remove the TV maker’s account The TV’s manufacturer-account settings Potentially synced data and smart features, not just one streaming app
You are considering uninstalling or resetting Return to the app’s sign-out controls first Deletion or reset is broader and is not a substitute for the app’s sign-out command
