To sign out of Prime Video on a Roku, check the app’s own settings first. If there is no usable sign-out option, sign in to Amazon in a web browser, open Account & Settings > Devices, and select Deregister next to your Roku. Signing out does not cancel anything. It only removes Prime Video access from that player. The steps below cover local sign-out, remote deregistration, switching Amazon accounts, Roku Guest Mode, and the separate actions people often confuse with sign-out.
Sign out from the Roku itself
Prime Video’s menus can differ between app versions, so the exact wording may not match what you see. Look for a sign-out or deregistration option in the app’s Settings.
- From the Roku Home screen, highlight Prime Video and press the * (Star) button to open the app’s options menu, or open the app and go to its Settings.
- Look for an entry such as Sign out or Deregister. Select it and confirm.
- If the option is missing, or selecting it does not remove access, use the remote method below. Do not uninstall the app as a first step, because uninstalling is a separate action (see the table).
Deregister the Roku from your Amazon account
This is the fallback Amazon’s own Prime Video help documentation describes when you cannot sign out on the device. It works from any browser, so you do not need the Roku in your hand.

- Open Account & Settings.
- Select Devices.
- Find your Roku in the list and select Deregister beside it.
Deregistering removes that Roku from your Amazon account. It does not close the Amazon account, and it does not affect your Prime membership.

Sign out a guest on a Roku in Guest Mode
Roku’s Guest Mode lets a visitor use their own app logins temporarily. It has its own sign-out routes, and they are separate from the Prime Video steps above.

Deregister Prime Video first, while you still have access to the player or the Amazon account. Then unlink the player from your Roku account using the removal steps in How do I remove a Roku streaming device from my Roku account? on Roku’s support site. Roku recommends a factory reset before you return, sell or give away a player. Finish with the reset, since it is the step that clears the device itself.
