To show To and Cc labels beside messages in your iPhone Mail inbox, open Settings > Apps > Mail, then turn on Show To/Cc Labels under Message List.
Turn on To/Cc labels in iPhone Mail
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Apps, then Mail.
- Scroll to Message List and turn on Show To/Cc Labels.
Apple’s iPhone Mail guide documents this switch for displaying To and Cc labels in the inbox. The labels help you identify at a glance whether a message was addressed to you in the To field or copied to you in the Cc field.

To/Cc labels versus the To or Cc mailbox
The Show To/Cc Labels switch changes how recipient-type information appears alongside messages in the message list. It is different from adding a mailbox that collects mail addressed to you.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To add that separate mailbox, open Mail, go to Mailboxes, tap Edit, then select To or Cc. Apple explains this mailbox in its Mail organization guide. Use the labels to spot recipient type in a list; use the mailbox to browse messages addressed to you.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
To/Cc labels are not compose recipients
Turning on inbox labels does not add or change recipients on a message you write. In a draft, tap Cc/Bcc to reveal those recipient fields. Enter copy recipients in Cc; use Bcc when you do not want other recipients to see those addresses. See Apple’s instructions for sending email on iPhone.
If you can’t find the setting
Check Settings > Apps > Mail and look beneath Message List for Show To/Cc Labels. Apple’s guide provides these steps but does not specify a first-compatible iOS version, so there is no supported version cutoff to cite. If the label or menu path differs on your iPhone, check that iOS is up to date and review the current Mail settings rather than relying on a guessed compatibility boundary.
