To share your location from a Samsung Galaxy phone, open the Samsung Find app and use its People tab. You can share your location or request someone else’s, but the other person must accept before their location is shared. Samsung offers one-hour, one-day, or ongoing sharing until it is turned off; either person can stop sharing.
Share your location with Samsung Find
- Open Samsung Find on your Galaxy device and select the People tab.
- Choose the option to share your location or request another person’s location, then select the person and send the request.
- Choose a sharing duration: one hour, one day, or until sharing is turned off.
- The other person must accept before their location is shared with you. Samsung says a person may receive a notification when someone they have shared with checks their location.
The exact controls can vary with the device, software, carrier, and region. Samsung lists location sharing as an app feature; its website does not provide all the same features as the app. Check Samsung Find in your local app store and on your device for availability.
Request someone else’s location
Use the People tab to request another person’s location. A request does not give you access automatically: the other person has to accept it. Samsung’s FAQ puts the consent rule plainly: “Your location is shared only if you accept a location-sharing request.”
Stop sharing your location
Open Samsung Find’s People tab and use the controls for the person you are sharing with to stop sharing. Samsung says sharing can be stopped at any time. If you are unsure whether sharing is still active, check the person’s entry in the app rather than assuming a duration has expired.

Know which Samsung location feature you need
Samsung’s location tools serve different purposes. Use People sharing to share a person’s phone location. Use device-finding features to locate a registered Galaxy device, or SmartThings’ Items flow to locate a tagged object.
- Samsung Find, People: person-to-person location sharing and requests.
- Samsung Find, Devices: locations of registered Galaxy devices and connected wearables.
- SmartThings Find: a separate device-finding feature.
- SmartThings Items and SmartTags: locating registered belongings. A SmartTag is not a way to share a person’s phone location.
Samsung’s setup instructions for making a phone findable—Samsung Find > More > Settings > Allow devices to be found > This device > Allow this phone to be found—concern finding a device, not a universal prerequisite or tap sequence for People sharing. Samsung also lists a device-settings route under Security and privacy > Lost device protection.

What the location display does—and does not—tell you
Samsung support says People and Devices locations do not automatically refresh just because you open a tab. Tap Refresh to request an updated display. The location shown for a person is associated with the main device selected in that person’s Samsung account; if they have multiple devices, the app indicates the current device. A displayed point should not be treated as a guarantee of a continuously refreshed or exact position.
Use Google Location Sharing as a cross-platform alternative
If Samsung Find is unavailable or the other person uses Google services, Google Location Sharing is an alternative. It works through Google services such as Maps and is off by default. Both people should check which service and account they are using so a request or shared location is not mistaken for Samsung Find activity.

- Google requires a Google Account, a mobile device, an active internet connection, and device location enabled.
- People you choose can see your name, profile picture, real-time location, and battery status.
- Google notes that in busy areas, the map may occasionally show an incorrect nearby point of interest.
Samsung Find and Google Location Sharing are separate services; sharing through one does not, by itself, establish sharing through the other.

Samsung says location sharing for child accounts requires parental or guardian consent and is restricted to members of the Samsung account Family group. Samsung’s UK pages say the app is available in all countries except mainland China, but supported devices and features can differ by country, region, carrier, model, and operating system. Availability of the app does not guarantee that every feature works on every Galaxy device.
