Jio’s published instructions explain how to set up and use UPI in MyJio or JioFinance; they do not document setting up UPI or authorizing payments directly on Jio Glass or JioFrames. Use the phone app for the documented UPI steps below, and don’t assume either glasses product can scan a payment QR code or approve a transaction.
The names also refer to different product descriptions: Jio has described Jio Glass as a mixed-reality wearable, while its current JioFrames page describes smart glasses. The available official information does not establish that they are the same device or that either runs a Jio UPI app.
Can you set up UPI directly on Jio Glass or JioFrames?
Not according to the official Jio instructions available for these products and services. Jio’s JioFrames product page lists features such as calls, photo and video capture, music, an AI assistant, health tracking, translation, and learning. It does not list UPI setup or payment authorization. Jio’s UPI instructions instead describe using MyJio or JioFinance on a phone.

That means you can set up and use UPI through the relevant app, but there is no documented glasses-based setup sequence to follow. Don’t treat a glasses camera as a supported payment QR scanner or expect it to approve a transaction.

Which app should you use for Jio UPI?
Jio documents UPI onboarding in MyJio, while Jio Payments Bank’s separate guidance directs its users to install JioFinance and complete onboarding there. These are app-specific instructions, not steps performed on glasses. Follow the current screens in the app you actually use; do not assume that the two apps have identical flows.
MyJio UPI
Jio says you must register before making a UPI transaction in MyJio. Setup creates a unique Jio UPI handle linked to an eligible bank account. MyJio’s FAQ says an existing UPI ID cannot be used as your MyJio handle.

The eligible account types listed by Jio are savings, current, and overdraft accounts. Select the bank account you intend to use and follow the app’s current registration and verification prompts.

JioFinance
Jio Payments Bank’s onboarding guidance directs users to install JioFinance and complete its onboarding flow. Use the current instructions in JioFinance if that is the app through which you are setting up payments; MyJio’s specific handle instructions should not be assumed to describe every JioFinance screen.

How to pay an online merchant with MyJio UPI
Jio documents two ways to pay an online merchant through MyJio. Both begin in the phone-based payment flow, not on Jio Glass or JioFrames.

For a QR scan failure, Jio advises trying another merchant outlet if the code does not comply with current standards. Its instructions do not identify a glasses camera as an alternative scanner.

Fix common UPI payment failures
“Why has my device binding request failed?”
Jio says device binding must complete within 30 seconds of initiation. If that window expires, the request fails. Restart the binding flow in the app and complete the bank or SIM verification promptly. This remedy addresses a timed-out binding request; it does not establish a fix for unrelated bank-side failures.
“I am putting correct UPI PIN however it is not being accepted, what do I do?”
Jio’s FAQ recommends choosing the reset-PIN option for the relevant bank account. Before resetting, confirm that the app has the correct account selected, since the UPI PIN is associated with a bank account. Never share the PIN with anyone.

“Why is the QR code reader not working/scanning, while performing Physical Merchant transaction?”
Jio says a QR code that does not comply with current QR standards may fail to scan, and advises trying another merchant outlet. The guidance does not say that scanning with Jio Glass or JioFrames is supported.
The payment failed, or the result is unclear
Check the transaction history or passbook in the relevant app or bank service to see the transaction status before trying again. If the status remains unresolved, contact the relevant app or bank’s official support. Jio Payments Bank’s guidance points users to history or passbook status checks; it does not establish one reversal timeframe for every kind of failed payment.

Jio Payments Bank’s UPI security guidance says: “Never enter UPI PIN to receive money.” It also warns users not to share a UPI PIN, CVV, or OTP, and not to pay unknown parties through QR codes received over social media or chat. A request to reveal these details or enter a PIN to receive funds is not a legitimate troubleshooting step.
MyJio UPI transaction limits
Jio’s FAQ lists the following limits. It does not state a publication year on that FAQ, and payment limits can change, so check the live limit information in Jio’s app or FAQ before relying on a figure.
