Set up the Google TV Streamer (4K) with the Google Home app, then finish the on-screen steps on your TV. During setup, choose the apps Google offers on your phone; the Streamer will install those apps. Your Google TV Watchlist is a separate, account-based feature that appears across devices signed in to the same Google Account. App data, streaming-service sign-ins, settings, and app order are not documented as transferring from an old device, so check your apps and accounts after setup.
Before you begin
- Google TV Streamer (4K) and its Voice Remote.
- A TV or display with an HDMI port.
- A Google Account you want to use on the Streamer.
- An internet connection: setup can use Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Ethernet is optional if you connect over Wi-Fi. See Google’s Google TV setup guidance.
- A phone with the Google Home app for the Streamer-specific phone setup flow.
Set up the Google TV Streamer
- Connect the Streamer to your TV’s HDMI port and power it on. Switch the TV to the matching HDMI input.
- Follow the TV prompts and use the Google Home app on your phone to start the Streamer setup. Keep the phone and Streamer available while they connect.
- Choose your Google Account and connect the Streamer to the internet when prompted.
- When Google Home offers apps to add, select the ones you want. Google says the TV installs the apps selected from the phone; allow installation to finish.
- Complete the remaining instructions on the TV, including any Voice Remote prompts. Setup is complete when the Streamer reaches its home screen; Google’s setup instructions show the message “Welcome. Your Google TV Streamer is ready!”
For device-specific prompts or setup troubleshooting, follow Google’s Google TV Streamer and Voice Remote setup instructions. Google also documents remote-based manual setup for supported Google TV devices, but the exact route can differ by device.
Move your apps: check what installed and add anything missing
The setup flow installs apps you select during onboarding; it is not a promise that the Streamer clones the old device. In particular, Google’s setup and app instructions do not establish that app data, service logins, device settings, or the old app arrangement transfer.
Find apps already installed
On the Streamer home screen, open the Apps area and look for the “Apps from my other devices” row. Google describes this area as a way to find apps associated with your other devices. The apps still need to be available for Google TV to install or use on the Streamer.

- Watch live TV and access over 800 free channels from Pluto TV, Tubi, and more[3]; if you find an interesting show or movie on your TV, mobile app, or Google search, you can easily add it to your watchlist, so it’s ready when you are[2]

Install an app that is missing
- Open the Apps area, or use Google TV search to look for the app.
- Select the app and choose the install option if it is available for Google TV.
- Open the app after installation and check whether it asks you to sign in. App installation alone does not establish that the service account or saved app data came across.
Google’s Google TV app installation guide covers searching, browsing and installing apps.
Find your saved Watchlist
The Watchlist follows your Google Account rather than being a copy of an old device’s local app setup. On the Streamer, open Google TV and check the Watchlist while signed in to the same Google Account used to save titles. Google says the Watchlist updates across devices signed in to that account. Some streaming-service content cannot be added to the Watchlist. See Google’s Watchlist help.

If titles appear to be missing
- Check that the Streamer is using the Google Account where you saved the titles.
- If your Google TV setup has multiple profiles, switch to the intended profile and check again; profile selection affects recommendations and viewing context.
- Keep in mind that not all streaming-service content can be saved to the Watchlist.

Manage which services inform Google TV
Google TV lets you manage streaming services used for discovery and recommendations. Removing a service from Google TV changes that discovery setup; it does not cancel a paid subscription with the service. Use the service provider’s own account or billing controls to manage or cancel a subscription. Google’s streaming service guidance explains service management.
