Samsung speaker setup depends on the model and connection you want. For the Music Frame HW-LS60D, use SmartThings for Wi-Fi setup or pair directly over Bluetooth; for a soundbar’s optional rear speakers, verify the kit against that soundbar’s manual. Button sequences, app support, and TV menus can vary by model, region, and software version.

Choose the right setup path

Use the connection that matches your device and goal. The Music Frame can connect to a phone or TV over Bluetooth. For Wi-Fi, first register it in SmartThings; the phone or other device you use with it should be on the same Wi-Fi network.

  • Phone or TV over Bluetooth: pair the Music Frame directly from the device’s Bluetooth settings.
  • Phone over Wi-Fi: add the Music Frame in SmartThings and keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Samsung TV over Wi-Fi: add the Music Frame in SmartThings, then select it from the TV’s sound output options.
  • Soundbar rear speakers: use a compatible rear speaker kit, following the specific soundbar manual.

These Music Frame instructions are for the HW-LS60D; they are not a universal procedure for every Samsung speaker.

Connect Music Frame over Bluetooth

Pair with a phone

  1. On the Music Frame, press and hold Mic On/Off for five seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode. The LED flashes red, green, and blue while pairing.
  2. On the phone, open Bluetooth settings and select Music Frame.
  3. If a saved Music Frame entry is already present but connection fails, remove or forget it, then pair again.

For first-time pairing, Samsung Australia advises placing the phone within about 1 metre of the Music Frame. After connection, the LED flashes cyan three times.

Pair with a Samsung TV

  1. Put the Music Frame in pairing mode by holding Mic On/Off for five seconds.
  2. On the TV, open Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List.
  3. Select Music Frame (Bluetooth), then choose Pair and connect.
  4. If prompted for a PIN, enter 0000.

Samsung says only one Samsung TV can be connected at a time. For other TV brands, menu names and behavior can differ. Samsung’s setup guidance is available at its phone and TV connection page.

Use Wi-Fi with a phone or Samsung TV

Register the Music Frame in SmartThings first so it joins the phone’s Wi-Fi network. Keep the Music Frame and the device being used on that same network.

On a Samsung TV, choose Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Music Frame (Wi-Fi). Samsung support states that only Samsung TVs support connecting a Music Frame to a TV through Wi-Fi. The Music Frame does not support Wi-Fi 6.

Q-Symphony compatibility depends on the TV, soundbar, firmware, and product release. Samsung Australia’s guidance describes compatibility for TVs released after 2024, with 2023 TVs to become compatible after a software update; it also says a 2024 soundbar is required to use a soundbar and Music Frame simultaneously through Q-Symphony. These details may change, so check Samsung’s current instructions for the exact combination before setup: Music Frame connection guidance and US Music Frame setup guidance.

Adjust Music Frame sound

Samsung’s SmartThings guidance lists these Music Frame controls:

  • Sound modes: Music, Standard, and Adaptive Sound
  • Bass and treble equalizer controls

Control availability is model-specific; do not assume every option appears on other Samsung speakers.

App compatibility can change; check the current page for your product: Samsung Sound registration troubleshooting.

Reset only when necessary

On an on-state Music Frame, press both volume buttons together for at least five seconds to reset it. Samsung says a reset restores defaults and erases all settings, so use it only after less disruptive troubleshooting.

Add rear speakers to a Samsung soundbar

Rear speaker kits are not universal. Check the exact soundbar manual to confirm which Wireless Rear Speaker Kit it supports before buying or connecting one. Samsung Canada lists SWA-9000S as an example for compatible soundbars, not as a kit for every model.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Connect the two rear speakers to the wireless receiver module using the matching color-coded plugs.
  2. Make sure each bare metal conductor touches its terminal; wire insulation should not be trapped in the connection.
  3. Power the receiver module. The speakers connect by wire to this module; the module, not the individual speakers, is wireless.
  4. Check the soundbar manual for any required wireless dongle and the model-specific pairing steps.

If the receiver’s LINK indicator blinks, Samsung’s instructions use ID SET to reconnect it, but the exact button sequence varies by soundbar. Follow the manual for that model rather than applying another soundbar’s sequence. See Samsung Canada’s rear-speaker connection instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect my Samsung Music Frame to my phone or TV?

For Bluetooth, hold the Music Frame’s Mic On/Off button for five seconds, then select it in the phone’s Bluetooth settings or the Samsung TV’s Bluetooth Speaker List. For Wi-Fi, add it in SmartThings and use a Samsung TV’s Music Frame (Wi-Fi) sound output option.

Why won’t my Samsung Music Frame connect via Bluetooth?

Check that Bluetooth is enabled, power-cycle the speaker for 30 seconds, and remove the old Music Frame pairing from the phone before trying again. Reset only as a last resort because it erases settings.
