The Vivo X Fold6 has a 6.51-inch cover display for use while the phone is folded and an 8.02-inch main display that becomes available when you open it. You can use the cover screen for camera previews and other documented camera features, and use OriginOS 6 Fold’s multitasking tools on the larger screen. Some settings—especially app continuation and separate wallpapers—aren’t confirmed in the available official guidance, so check your device’s own Settings or regional support rather than relying on a guessed menu path.
Know which display you’re using
The narrower outside panel is the cover display: it remains accessible when the phone is folded. Opening the phone reveals the larger main, or inner, display. Vivo lists the panels as 6.51 inches and 8.02 inches, respectively. Its China specifications list both displays as supporting refresh rates up to 120 Hz and identify the software as OriginOS 6 Fold based on Android 16. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.
For quick use with the device closed, the cover display is the convenient panel. The larger inner display gives you more room for tasks and the foldable multitasking features described by vivo.

Vivo’s X Fold6 product page describes the displays and their documented features. Vivo’s China specifications page lists the refresh-rate ceiling and software version.

Open Origin Workbench and use split-screen modes
Vivo documents a gesture for launching Origin Workbench, a workspace for foldable multitasking. The gesture is available after its toggle is enabled in Settings.
- Open Settings > Foldable Devices > Origin Workbench.
- Turn on the Origin Workbench gesture toggle.
- Swipe inward from the bottom-right corner of the screen to launch Origin Workbench.
Vivo also describes switching to Multi-Split Screen Mode by slightly folding the phone or swiping upward with three fingers. The product page also describes launching this mode from the home screen. The controls and available options may vary by installed software version, so follow the instructions shown on your device if a gesture behaves differently.

What the layouts do
At the X Fold6’s June 26, 2026 launch, vivo described two OriginOS 6 Fold arrangements: a serial mode with up to five windows (one main window and four auxiliary windows), and a parallel layout with four windows. Vivo says layouts can be resized and saved. These are manufacturer-described capabilities, not a guarantee that every app works in every arrangement; support depends on the app and software implementation.
Vivo’s June 26, 2026 launch announcement provides those layout details.

Use the cover display with the camera
Vivo documents several ways the outside screen can help when taking pictures or recording video with the rear camera:
- Preview while shooting: the cover display can show a two-column preview on the left side while you shoot.
- Interactive animations: animations on the cover screen can help engage children or pets.
- Teleprompter: preset text can appear on the cover display while the rear camera records.
Vivo’s published description does not specify the exact Camera app menus for activating these features. Look for the relevant option in the Camera app on your device; don’t assume a particular tap sequence applies to every software version or region. The features are described on Vivo’s X Fold6 product page.

Protect the inner display’s factory film
The inner display comes with a specially designed protective film. Vivo says the film is integral to the display and warns against removing or replacing it yourself. If it needs replacement, the company directs owners to an official customer-service center. This guidance concerns the factory film on the inner display; it should not be generalized to every accessory or cover-screen protector.

Check your device for wallpaper and app-continuation controls
Officially available guidance does not establish a current X Fold6 settings path for assigning separate wallpapers to the cover and inner displays, or for choosing whether an app continues across the two screens when you fold or unfold the phone. That does not prove the options are absent; it means their availability and exact controls are not confirmed here.
- Use the Settings search on your phone for terms such as wallpaper, foldable, or screen continuation, then check any results against the description shown on your installed software.
- If you can’t find the relevant control, consult the manual or update support for your region. Vivo’s Europe X Fold6 support page lists an update area and a self-service repair manual; it does not provide a confirmed display-setup path.
Be cautious with instructions written for older Vivo foldables. For example, a community guide to the original X Fold describes a folio-case setting; it is not evidence of an X Fold6 feature or menu. That guide concerns the earlier X Fold model.
