To use both screens on an ASUS Zenbook DUO, unfold its kickstand, turn on the second display in ScreenXpert if needed, then set Windows to Extend these displays. You can work with the included Bluetooth keyboard over the lower screen, use touch gestures and the virtual keyboard, or choose a sharing layout in ScreenXpert. The instructions here cover ASUS’s UX8406MA, UX8406CA and UX8407AA models; check your exact model and regional package because specifications and included accessories can vary.
Set up both screens
- Open the DUO and unfold the kickstand. Position the computer so both displays are visible at a comfortable angle.
- Turn on the second screen. Open ScreenXpert and make sure Switch on the second screen is enabled.
- Extend the Windows desktop. Open Settings > System > Display, then choose Extend these displays. This gives Windows a desktop that spans both panels, so you can place different apps on each screen.
If the second display is black, start by checking its ScreenXpert switch and Windows’ Extend setting; troubleshooting steps are below. ASUS’s Zenbook DUO exclusive-feature FAQ documents the model-specific controls.
Choose a way to use the two displays
Dual-screen mode
Keep both screens open on the kickstand. Put the app you are actively using on one display and reference material on the other, rather than repeatedly switching windows.
Laptop mode with the Bluetooth keyboard
Place the ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad over the lower display for a conventional laptop layout. The keyboard attaches magnetically to the second display when stored.

Desktop mode
Unfold the kickstand and position the computer vertically, using one screen for active work and the other for reference. ASUS says opening the DUO slightly beyond 180 degrees can make this posture more stable.

Use ScreenXpert gestures and controls
Touchscreen gestures require ScreenXpert. If gestures are unreliable, ASUS recommends updating the BIOS and ScreenXpert; check the support page for your exact model for the applicable downloads and software information.

| Gesture | Action |
|---|---|
| Six fingers | Tap the lower screen to show the virtual keyboard. Swipe up again to expand it to full screen. Swipe down with six fingers to close functions in reverse opening order; swiping down in the bottom third closes all functions. |
| Three fingers | Tap the second screen to open the virtual touchpad. You can move it; ASUS says it returns to its previous position when reopened. |
| One finger | Drag a window, then swipe lightly to move it to full screen on the other display. |
| Five fingers | In ASUS’s MyASUS example, spread five fingers on an open window to expand it full screen; pinch inward to send it full screen to the main display. |
Set up widgets on the second screen
Enable widgets in ScreenXpert and place them on the second screen with the virtual keyboard enabled during placement. For switching to work, the widgets need to occupy the same position. To show only the keyboard afterward, close the widget and use the six-finger gesture.
Adjust display and device controls
The ScreenXpert panel provides brightness adjustment, a virtual-keyboard switch, Bluetooth-device status, the second-screen switch, sharing mode and rotation lock. You can adjust brightness independently or synchronize it across both panels.

Pair and charge the dedicated keyboard
- Update the computer’s drivers through MyASUS, as ASUS advises before pairing.
- Hold F10 or F11 on the keyboard until its indicator flashes, then select the connection pop-up.
- If no pop-up appears, open Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device and pair manually.
- Enter the PIN shown on screen using the keyboard and press Enter.
Charge the keyboard through its POGO PIN connection or its USB-C port. The USB-C port does not support data transfer. ScreenXpert’s Bluetooth-device status control shows the keyboard battery level. ASUS states that a full charge supports more than 24 hours with the keyboard backlight off; this is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not an independent test. Press F4 or Fn+F4 to toggle the backlight, which increases power consumption.

The second screen is black
- Open ScreenXpert and confirm Switch on the second screen is enabled.
- Open Windows Settings > System > Display and select Extend these displays.
The screens have different colors
ASUS says a slight difference can be normal because the panels are viewed at different angles. If the mismatch is pronounced, compare their Splendid modes in MyASUS > Device Settings > Audio & Vision > Splendid, then compare the Windows display color profile and HDR settings.

The lower screen reflects too much
Change the DUO’s physical angle using the kickstand. ASUS also suggests the optional multifunction laptop sleeve as a way to raise the screen angle and reduce reflections.
The second screen disappears at the lock screen
ASUS says the second screen is not displayed while the computer is locked, attributing this behavior to Microsoft and noting that it can reduce power use.
Optional accessories and model-specific support
The multifunction laptop sleeve is optional, not required to use both screens. ASUS says its folded stand raises the keyboard by 12 degrees and may improve the typing angle and airflow. A pen is likewise not needed for dual-screen setup. Confirm that any replacement keyboard or accessory fits your exact model and regional bundle before buying: keyboard and accessory inclusions can vary by SKU.
