To set up a Toshiba Fire TV, plug it in, install the remote batteries, turn on the television, connect to your home Wi‑Fi, then follow the prompts to register with an Amazon account. You can connect to Wi‑Fi by scanning the setup QR code with a phone or by entering the network details with the remote. Toshiba screens can differ by model, so use the guide for your exact TV if its menus do not match these steps.
What to have ready
- The Toshiba Fire TV and its remote, with batteries.
- Your Wi‑Fi network name (SSID) and password.
- Your Amazon account sign-in details, or the information needed to register an account.
- A phone, if you want to use QR-assisted Wi‑Fi setup.
If you have forgotten the Wi‑Fi password, recover it through the relevant account, router, or internet provider rather than guessing. These instructions are for a television with Fire TV built in, not a separate Fire TV Stick.
Set up the TV and pair its remote
- Connect the television to power and install batteries in the Fire TV remote.
- Turn on the TV. Amazon says the remote normally pairs automatically when its batteries are installed and the TV is turned on. See Amazon’s Fire TV remote pairing instructions if needed.
- If the remote does not pair, keep it near the TV and hold Home until the pairing prompt appears. Amazon says this can take about 10 seconds; follow any additional prompt on screen.
Connect the Toshiba Fire TV to Wi‑Fi
At the network setup step, Amazon provides two ways to connect a Fire TV Smart TV. Choose whichever is practical for you:

Amazon describes both options in its Fire TV Smart TV setup instructions. Choose your regular home network rather than a guest network that requires a browser sign-in, unless that guest network is configured to work with the TV.

Finish Amazon account setup
After connecting to Wi‑Fi, follow the registration prompts. Sign in or register using the on-screen QR code or the displayed address and activation code, then complete the remaining steps. Amazon account registration is separate from entering your Wi‑Fi password.
If the remote will not pair
- Move within 10 feet (3 m) of the TV and hold Home for about 10 seconds.
- If it still does not pair, remove the batteries, wait 30 seconds, reinstall them, and try holding Home again. Try fresh batteries if necessary.
- As a reset option, hold Left, Menu, and Back together for 12 seconds, then hold Home again. Button labels and remote features vary by model.
- If needed, unplug the Fire TV device for five seconds and reconnect it. Amazon also identifies the Fire TV mobile app as an alternative pairing option.

If the TV cannot find or join your Wi‑Fi network
Try these fixes in order, attempting the connection again after each one:

- Restart the TV: unplug its power, wait one minute, then plug it back in.
- Restart your modem and router. Unplug both for one minute, reconnect the modem first, and wait for it to reconnect to the internet. Then reconnect the router and wait for it to come online.
- If practical, move the TV and router closer together to improve signal strength.
- If the exact Toshiba model supports wired networking, try Ethernet. Some Fire TV devices require an Ethernet adapter; confirm compatibility for your model before obtaining one.
These are among the steps in Amazon’s Wi‑Fi setup troubleshooting guidance. A guest network that requires web-browser sign-in may not work unless it has been configured to support the television.

If a previously saved Wi‑Fi connection stops working
For an existing connection problem, open Settings > Network and toggle Wi‑Fi off and on, or forget the saved network and reconnect with its password. Amazon also describes a Network Status tool under Settings > Network; on compatible screens, press Play/Pause to open diagnostics. Menu availability can vary by device. Amazon’s instructions cover Fire TV Smart TVs generally; they do not establish exact screen labels for a particular Toshiba model. If a prompt or menu differs, check the guide for your TV’s exact model. Amazon organizes its Fire TV quick-start guides and user manuals by device family and release.
