There is no single best Honda Civic tune for every road race in Gran Turismo 7. First identify the exact Civic in your garage and the event’s track, PP limit, tire rules, and race length; then tune the car to meet those conditions. The steps below give you a repeatable method, not a claimed or tested numerical setup.

Choose the Civic you are tuning

“Honda Civic” can refer to different cars in GT7, and their starting performance and tuning options are not interchangeable. The Garage RCR Civic is based on a 1992 EG Honda Civic, with a PANDEM wide-body kit and a carbon-fiber hood inspired by a J’s Racing design, according to the official Gran Turismo car list.

The FL5 Type R ’22 is another distinct choice. GTPlus lists its unmodified in-game figures as 325 bhp, 1,430 kg, and 528.75 PP (accessed 2026); these are game-database values, not real-world specifications. See the GTPlus FL5 listing.

Before changing parts, write down the model name shown in your garage. A setup for one Civic generation should not be treated as a ready-made tune for another.

Set the event target before tuning

Record the conditions that determine whether a build will be useful. A car that is quick on one circuit or legal under one PP ceiling may not suit another event.

  • Track: Note the circuit and whether its layout favors acceleration, cornering, or speed on long straights.
  • PP ceiling: Establish the maximum allowed performance points before buying parts or increasing power.
  • Tires: Check which compounds the event permits. A setup that depends on a disallowed tire will not meet the rules.
  • Race length: Decide whether your priority is a short race or a longer event; the preferred balance may differ.

Keep a separate setup for substantially different race conditions rather than trying to make one saved tune cover every event. That approach is also recommended in this community tuning guide.

Build and refine the setup in a repeatable order

  1. Meet the tire rule. Select an allowed compound first. Treat it as part of the event specification, not a last-minute change after tuning other parts.
  2. Manage PP with power and weight changes. Add or reduce performance while keeping the event’s PP ceiling in view. Recheck PP after each meaningful change so you can see its effect before making another.
  3. Adjust suspension and differential response. Make changes to suit the car’s behavior in corners, then assess them in repeatable laps rather than assuming one setting is universally best.
  4. Set aero only where adjustable. If the selected Civic and installed parts provide adjustable aerodynamics, consider them for the circuit. Do not assume every Civic has the same aero options.
  5. Match gearing to the circuit. Consider the longest straight when choosing gearing; a setting suited to one layout may not suit another.
  6. Test, record, and change one thing at a time. Run repeatable laps under the same event conditions, note what feels or performs differently, and change one setting before testing again. Save a distinct setup for a different track, tire rule, PP target, or race length.

This order is a framework for making a legal, track-specific build. It does not supply exact suspension, differential, aero, or gearing values: no official current numerical setup sheet for a specific Civic is established here.

Use community tunes only for the car and conditions they cover

A community example illustrates why the model and target matter. DJ Thommo T’s video describes a 600 PP tune for the FK2 Type R ’15, made for GT7 update 1.35. It includes custom aero and wheel selections, and the creator says it is not the quickest tune. The FK2 setup video is an example for that car and target—not a verified tune for the FL5 Type R ’22 or another Civic.

Keep the game version in perspective

Game updates can change car behavior, so a community setup can age. The official GT7 version 1.65 update notice identifies Power Pack as paid DLC for PS5 only. That DLC is not a required part of choosing or tuning a Civic for a road race.
