For movies, start with Filmmaker Mode if your Hisense E7 Cinema Series TV offers it; otherwise choose the Cinema or Theater mode that looks most comfortable in your room. Then check picture mode again while playing the content you actually watch: HDR and Dolby Vision signals may use separate picture-mode families, with settings that differ from SDR. Exact menus and features vary across E7 models, regions, and software, so confirm your TV’s full model number before following model-specific instructions.
Why the exact E7 model matters
“E7 Cinema Series” alone does not identify a confirmed model number or sales region. Hisense’s US product page describes the 65E7SF, while its Romanian page describes an E7S; these are examples from the E7 family, not proof that every E7 Cinema Series TV has the same hardware, features, or menus. Check the complete model number on the rear label or in Settings > About, then use the manual for your region and model.
Menu labels can differ among Hisense products and regions. On the cited manuals, picture controls are under Settings > Display & Sound > Picture, sometimes with a General submenu along the way. If those labels do not match, use your model’s manual rather than assuming another E7’s path applies.

Start with Filmmaker Mode, if available
While watching a movie, open the Picture settings and select Filmmaker Mode if it appears. Hisense’s Romanian E7S product page promotes this feature, but that does not establish its availability on every E7 Cinema Series model.

Use Cinema or Theater as the fallback
If Filmmaker Mode is absent, choose the closest Cinema or Theater option. Some Hisense manuals list Theater Day and Theater Night as variants for different ambient-brightness conditions; those exact choices are not confirmed for every E7. In a bright room, select the option that remains comfortable to watch; in a darker room, prefer the one that looks natural without feeling overly bright. Treat these modes as starting points rather than guaranteed calibration targets.
Set picture mode while the content is playing
Picture modes may change with the signal format. Hisense’s E-Manual 9603GTV states, “When you use a HDR signal, the picture mode is HDR picture mode.” The adjacent manual text says Dolby Vision signals likewise use a Dolby Vision picture mode. As a result, changes made while watching SDR may not carry over as expected when you switch to HDR or Dolby Vision.

- Start playback on the source you want to configure, such as a streaming app or an external device.
- Open Settings > Display & Sound > Picture, following your model’s menu labels.
- Check which picture-mode family is active and choose the movie option available for that signal.
- Repeat while playing SDR, HDR, or Dolby Vision content you commonly watch; do not assume one format’s adjustment settles the others.
Hisense’s US page for the 65E7SF lists Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10, and HLG support. Those are specifications for that named US model only, not a verified list for every E7 Cinema Series TV. Check your own model’s specifications to see which formats it supports.
Decide where picture settings apply
Some Hisense manuals provide an Apply Picture Settings choice: apply settings to all sources, including external devices and streaming apps, or only to the current source. If a picture looks different between devices, setting adjustments per source can help you avoid changing the behavior of other inputs. Choose the scope that matches how you watch; it is a practical preference, not a manufacturer requirement.

Handle room lighting and advanced controls carefully
Compare the ambient light sensor in your normal room
If your TV has an ambient light sensor, compare the picture with automatic adjustment enabled and disabled under your usual viewing conditions. Hisense’s Romanian E7S page says its AI Light Sensor adjusts backlight according to ambient light, but availability on the exact E7 Cinema Series model is unverified. Keep the setting that produces a comfortable image in the room where you watch.
Leave calibration controls at their defaults unless you can measure
Hisense manuals document advanced Color Tuner, White Balance, and Gamma Calibration controls, but the available sources do not establish universal numerical settings for the E7 Cinema Series. Leave them unchanged unless you have measurements for your exact set; values copied from another model may not produce accurate results on yours.
