To run a monitor at 240 Hz, connect it through an input and signal path that support 240 Hz at your chosen resolution, then select that mode in Windows. Verify the active refresh rate in Settings > System > Display > Advanced display; a monitor’s 240 Hz rating alone does not confirm it is currently running at that rate.
Before you change settings
Check the monitor manual or official specifications for the exact resolution-and-refresh-rate combinations supported by each input. A monitor may not support the same maximum mode through every port. Also check whether the manual calls for enabling a high-bandwidth or refresh-rate setting in the monitor’s on-screen display (OSD).
Where possible, connect the monitor directly to an output on the graphics card. A dock, adapter, KVM switch, or motherboard output can affect which modes are available, so verify the actual mode after connecting rather than assuming the full signal path supports 240 Hz. There is no universally correct cable recommendation without the monitor and graphics-card models, chosen resolution, and input; check the manufacturers’ specifications before buying an accessory.
Set 240 Hz in Windows
- Choose the intended resolution. In Windows display settings, select the resolution you plan to use, preferably the display’s recommended or native resolution where practical. The available refresh rates depend on the display and current mode, and some choices may change the resolution. Microsoft explains how Windows lists refresh rates.
- Open Advanced display. Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display. If you use more than one monitor, select the 240 Hz display in the display selector.
- Select the refresh rate. Choose 240 Hz if it is listed and is available at the intended resolution. If it is not, choose the highest appropriate mode Windows offers while you investigate the missing option.
- Confirm the active mode. Check the resolution and refresh rate shown in the display information panel. The selected Windows mode—not the number printed on the monitor’s box—is the practical confirmation that the connection is using that refresh rate.
Enable variable refresh rate if supported
Variable refresh rate (VRR) lets a compatible display and graphics card coordinate refresh timing. It is separate from selecting a 240 Hz mode: you need compatible hardware and must enable the relevant display and graphics settings.
#1 Best Overall
- Smooth motion: 240Hz refresh rate and fast 0.5ms response time provide crisp visuals and fluid movement with less input lag.
- Seamless gaming: FreeSync Premium and HDMI VRR eliminate tearing for smooth, responsive PC and console gameplay.
- Fast IPS: Faster 0.5ms response with excellent color accuracy across wide IPS viewing angles.
- Rich color: 99% sRGB color coverage delivers vivid, detailed imagery with strong accuracy.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star certified display lowers blue light while preserving color quality.
AMD FreeSync
- Enable FreeSync in the monitor OSD, if the display provides that option.
- Update the AMD graphics driver, then check AMD software to verify that FreeSync is enabled.
OSD labels and available options vary by monitor, so consult its manual. AMD’s FreeSync information includes examples of supported display capabilities, including 1920 × 1080 at 240 Hz; that is a capability example, not a promise about every monitor or PC.
NVIDIA G-SYNC
For NVIDIA VRR, use a G-SYNC or G-SYNC Compatible display with a compatible GPU, then enable G-SYNC in NVIDIA Control Panel and set the monitor technology appropriately. NVIDIA’s G-SYNC monitor guidance describes compatible display options.

Match the game’s display settings
In the game’s display or graphics settings, choose the same monitor and intended resolution. A 240 Hz display mode does not make a game render 240 frames per second: refresh rate describes how often the display can update, while frame rate describes how often the game produces frames. Actual frame rate depends on the game and PC, and is not guaranteed by the monitor setting.
On Windows 11, an optional windowed-game optimization may reduce frame latency and enable VRR on supported displays for compatible DirectX 10 or 11 games running windowed or borderless. See Microsoft’s explanation of optimizations for windowed games for availability and setup details.

- 240Hz Refresh Rate: Stay above the pack with 240Hz, giving you an edge in performance as frames transition instantly.Specific uses for product - Gaming
- 1ms Response Time: Colors fade and illuminate instantly with a 1ms response time, eliminating ghosting and piecing together precise imagery during action-packed scenes and gaming.
- 1500R Curvature: The 1500R degree curved design immerses you into all of the action no matter where you choose to sit in the room.
- AMD FreeSync Premium: By accelerating the frame rate to at least 120Hz at 1080P FHD resolution and delivering low latency to prevent visible delay in data processing, AMD FreeSync Premium allows gameplay to reach the highest echelons of performance.
- Built-In Speakers: Perfectly suited to work & gaming settings, built-in speakers deliver robust & smooth audio while saving space on your desk.
If 240 Hz does not appear
- Check the selected display. In Advanced display, make sure you are changing the intended monitor, especially in a multi-monitor setup.
- Check resolution and input limits. Confirm in the monitor’s manual that the chosen input supports 240 Hz at the selected resolution. Try another supported input if available.
- Check the full connection path. Bypass a dock, adapter, or KVM switch and connect directly to the graphics card to see whether the mode becomes available.
- Look for an OSD setting. Some monitors require a high-bandwidth or refresh-rate option to be enabled before the highest mode appears.
- Update graphics drivers and verify again. Reopen Advanced display after the update and check the available modes.
- Consult model-specific documentation. If 240 Hz remains missing, check the monitor and GPU documentation for port-specific limits. The exact cable or adapter needed depends on those models and the chosen mode.
Windows exposes refresh rates according to the connected display and current mode; it may also mark a mode that changes the current resolution. If 240 Hz is unavailable at your preferred resolution, confirm the monitor’s supported combinations before changing resolution or buying new hardware.
