First, identify the watch’s exact model name or module number, then open the matching Casio operation guide. “Casio Vintage” covers many digital watches, and their button labels, modes and setting sequences are not interchangeable. Casio’s US manual lookup lets you search by model name or module number. Do not begin pressing buttons until the guide and the watch show the same identifier.
Why there is no single Casio Vintage button sequence
A Casio Vintage digital watch is a style range, not one movement with one control layout. Two watches can look similar while using different modules. The official guides for module 1534 and module 3569 demonstrate this difference: each uses its own controls and order of operations for alarm setup.
That matters because a sequence that enters an alarm-setting screen on one module may change the display, select a different alarm, or do nothing on another. Even button letters can have different roles. Treat any procedure as valid only when the heading or module number in the Casio guide matches the number on your watch.
The safest answer to “How do I set it?” is therefore conditional:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Read the model name or module number from the watch and its paperwork.
- Find that identifier in Casio’s manual lookup.
- Use the timekeeping and alarm sections of that exact guide.
- If a button, mode name or screen does not match, stop and verify the identifier instead of guessing.
Find the model name or module number
Look for the identifier on the watch
Turn the watch over and inspect the case back for a small model or module marking. The module number is often a four-digit number, while the model name may include letters, numbers and a color or band suffix. Record the characters exactly, including hyphens and any leading zero.
If the case-back text is difficult to read, check the original box, warranty paperwork or the watch’s product page. Do not substitute a visually similar model. A silver rectangular watch may be sold under a model name that differs from another silver rectangular watch, and the module number is the more reliable guide identifier.
Use Casio’s manual lookup
Casio’s US support page describes its manual service as providing “user manuals, operation guides, and other manuals.” Its search label is “Search by Model Name/Module Number.” Enter the model name first if you have it; if the results are ambiguous, search the module number.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesOpen the result whose identifier matches the marking on your watch. Check the guide’s diagrams against the physical button positions before following any instruction. A guide for a similar-looking watch is not a safe substitute.
Match the guide to the hardware
| Check | What to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Identifier | Case-back module number or exact model name | Determines which operation guide applies |
| Button letters | Labels such as A, B, C, D or E and their positions | The same letter can perform a different function on another module |
| Mode names | Timekeeping, Alarm or other labels used in the guide | The route into a setting screen depends on the module |
| Display layout | Number of alarm indicators, fields and icons | Confirms that the guide’s illustrations describe your screen |
Prepare before changing the time or alarm
Have the correct guide open and keep the watch where you can read both the button letters and the display. Setting procedures normally require you to recognize a flashing field, but the exact field order and adjustment buttons are module-specific.
- Write down the current displayed time so you can detect an accidental change.
- Note whether the watch is showing a timekeeping display or another mode.
- Identify every button letter shown in the guide; do not rely on the button’s location alone.
- Read the guide’s notes about 12-hour or 24-hour display, daylight-saving changes and alarm indicators if those topics are present.
- Press a button only when the guide tells you to press it. A short press and a hold can have different results.
Do not assume that the button used for the display light also confirms a setting. On module 1534, the guide identifies E as the display-light button; another module may assign that letter differently.
Set the time with the matching operation guide
Locate the guide’s timekeeping section
After confirming the module, open the section that describes timekeeping or time adjustment. Follow the guide’s stated path into the time-setting screen, including its exact mode and hold duration. The Casio Vintage label alone does not establish which button enters that screen, which field flashes first or which buttons increase and decrease a value.
When the guide indicates that a field is flashing, change only that field with the controls named in that guide. Continue through the guide’s documented fields in its documented order, then perform the stated completion action. Do not borrow the adjustment buttons or field order from a different Casio manual.

Check the result
Return to the normal timekeeping display using the guide’s instructions. Compare the hour, minutes, date and display format with the values you intended to enter. If the hour appears twelve hours off, check the guide’s explanation of its 12-hour/24-hour indicator rather than repeatedly changing the hour.
The available official excerpts do not establish one complete time-setting sequence for a single named Vintage model. For that reason, a universal A/B/C/D procedure would be misleading. The matching manual is the authority for your watch’s time-setting steps.
Alarm example: Casio module 1534
The following is a module-specific illustration, not a universal Vintage procedure. Use it only when the marking on your watch and the heading in the Casio guide both identify module 1534.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Enter Alarm Mode. Use the module 1534 guide to reach Alarm Mode. Its guide states, “Press C to change from mode to mode.”
- Start alarm setting. In Alarm Mode, hold A until the hour digits flash. The guide says this begins alarm setting and automatically turns the alarm on.
- Move through the setting fields. Press C to change from one setting field to the next, following the order shown in the module 1534 guide.
- Adjust each flashing value. Use only the adjustment control specified by the module 1534 guide for the flashing field. Do not assume that a control from another module has the same function.
- Finish as directed. Apply the guide’s completion instruction and return to the normal display to verify the alarm time.
Because holding A automatically switches the module 1534 alarm on, check that the alarm indicator is enabled after saving. If you entered the setting screen unintentionally, avoid changing values and use the guide’s cancellation or exit instruction.
Module 1534’s guide also identifies E as the display-light button. That label is useful when reading the diagram, but it should not be treated as evidence that E is the light button on every Casio Vintage module.
Alarm example: Casio module 3569
Module 3569 uses a different documented procedure. Use this outline only after confirming that your watch is module 3569:
- Select the alarm number specified by the guide.
- Hold A to begin setting.
- Adjust the selected values with B and D as directed by the module 3569 guide.
- Complete the setting using the guide’s stated finish operation.
This sequence cannot be transplanted to module 1534 or another Vintage watch. In particular, the presence of an alarm-number selection step and the use of B and D are module-specific details.
| Feature | Module 1534 guide | Module 3569 guide |
|---|---|---|
| Mode navigation | C changes from mode to mode | Use the navigation shown in the 3569 guide |
| Start alarm setting | Hold A in Alarm Mode until the hour digits flash | Hold A after selecting the alarm number |
| Alarm activation | Starting the setting operation automatically turns the alarm on | Not established by the available excerpt; follow the guide’s indicator and completion instructions |
| Value adjustment | Use the controls specified in the 1534 guide | Use B and D as specified in the 3569 guide |
| Light button | E is identified as the display-light button | Not stated in the available excerpt |
How to read the guide while you set
Operation guides are easiest to follow when you treat each screen change as a checkpoint. First confirm the mode name, then confirm which digits or icon are flashing, and only then press the adjustment button named by the guide. If the display does not show the expected flashing field, do not continue through the sequence in the hope that the next press will correct it.

Keep the physical watch and the guide oriented the same way as the illustration. Some diagrams identify buttons by letter rather than by left or right position. This matters if the watch is being viewed from the back, if the case has been rotated while you hold it, or if a similar model has a different layout.
A hold is not interchangeable with repeated short presses. On module 1534, holding A in Alarm Mode is the action that starts alarm setting, while C is used to move through modes or fields as described by that guide. Module 3569 likewise documents its own hold and adjustment sequence. Copy the guide’s wording and timing instead of relying on memory from another digital watch.
Confirm that the alarm is configured
After completing the exact procedure for your module, return to the display described by the guide and check the alarm time. Look for the alarm-on indicator or other status symbol shown in that guide. Do not infer the meaning of an icon from a photograph of a different model.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For module 1534, remember that entering the alarm-setting operation by holding A turns the alarm on automatically. If you intended only to inspect the alarm, verify its status afterward and use the guide’s documented method to disable it if necessary.
If your watch offers more than one alarm, confirm that you edited the intended alarm number. This is especially important for module 3569, whose guide includes an alarm-number selection step.
What to do if you only need to check the current setting
Reading an alarm time is not necessarily the same operation as changing it. Use the guide’s normal Alarm Mode display to inspect the stored value, and avoid holding the button that the guide reserves for setting. On module 1534, holding A until the hour digits flash starts the setting operation and automatically enables the alarm, so an inspection can become a change if the wrong control is held.
Before leaving the alarm display, note whether the guide shows an enabled or disabled indicator. If the watch has more than one alarm, record the selected alarm number before making any adjustment. This simple check helps prevent changing one alarm while intending to edit another.
Troubleshooting when the buttons do not match
The guide’s button layout is different
Stop pressing buttons and recheck the module number. Compare every digit on the case back, including a possible leading zero. Then search Casio’s manual lookup by module number rather than by a broad “Vintage” description.

You cannot make a digit flash
Verify that you are in the mode named by the guide and that you are holding the correct button for the required duration. A short press may navigate while a hold starts setting, but that behavior must be confirmed in your module’s guide. If the screen still does not match, you may be using the wrong manual.
The alarm time changed, but the alarm does not appear enabled
Check the guide’s alarm indicator and completion step. Do not assume that saving a time enables the alarm on every module. Module 1534 specifically turns the alarm on when its setting operation begins; the available module 3569 excerpt does not establish the same behavior.
You pressed the light button accidentally
Use the guide’s button diagram to identify the light control. On module 1534, E is identified as the display-light button. Avoid using that fact to identify E on another module.

Battery and band questions are model-specific
Casio’s support page for the A168WA-1 identifies it as a CASIO VINTAGE model and lists battery-replacement and band-related support topics. Those categories do not establish a compatible battery, band, tool, price or replacement part for every Vintage watch.
Do not use the A168WA-1 support information as evidence that its maintenance parts or setting procedure apply to another model. If your watch needs service, start with its own model or module number and the corresponding Casio support material.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When a visual match is not enough
Readers often identify a watch by its case shape, color or bracelet. Those clues can help you find a likely product page, but they do not prove that the operation guide is correct. A model name can include a color or band suffix, and two products can share a rectangular case while carrying different module numbers.

A quick decision path
- Have the identifier? If not, read the case back, paperwork or product record until you can distinguish the model or module.
- Found the matching manual? Search Casio by model name or module number and open the result with the exact identifier.
- Do the controls match? Compare button letters, mode names and display diagrams. If not, stop and search again.
- Setting the time? Follow only the matching guide’s timekeeping section; do not infer a sequence from another Vintage watch.
- Setting an alarm? Use the module-specific alarm section. Module 1534 and module 3569 are examples of different procedures, not interchangeable instructions.
- Still uncertain? Verify the identifier before continuing or contact Casio support.
What to remember
The reliable method is not a universal button shortcut. It is model identification followed by the matching Casio operation guide. Module 1534 illustrates an Alarm Mode procedure in which holding A until the hour flashes starts setting and automatically enables the alarm; module 3569 illustrates a different process involving alarm selection, A, and B/D adjustments. Those differences are why the module number belongs at the start of every Casio Vintage time-and-alarm instruction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find the Casio Vintage module number?
Start with the case back and record the small marking exactly, including leading zeros and hyphens. If it is hard to read, check the box, warranty paperwork or product record. Confirm the identifier in Casio’s manual lookup before using a guide.
Can I use instructions for another Casio Vintage watch that looks the same?
No. Similar cases can contain different modules, button layouts and alarm procedures. Match the exact model name or module number, then compare the guide’s button diagram and display with your watch.
How do I set the time if I do not know the module?
Do not guess at an A/B/C/D sequence. Identify the model or module first and use Casio’s matching timekeeping section. The Vintage label alone does not establish which button enters time setting or which field flashes first.
Why did setting the alarm turn it on?
That behavior is documented for module 1534: holding A in Alarm Mode until the hour digits flash begins alarm setting and automatically turns the alarm on. Check the indicator afterward and use the module 1534 guide’s method to disable it if needed. Do not assume every module behaves this way.
What is different about module 3569?
The module 3569 guide includes selecting an alarm number, holding A, adjusting with B and D, and completing the setting as directed. Those controls and steps are specific to module 3569 and should not be transferred to another watch.
The buttons and screen do not match the manual. What should I do?
Stop pressing buttons, reread every digit on the case back and search Casio by module number. If the display, mode names or button positions still differ, use the corrected guide or contact Casio support rather than forcing the controls.

The Bottom Line
Identify the exact Casio Vintage model or module number first. Then use Casio’s matching operation guide for both time and alarm settings. Module 1534 and module 3569 prove why a universal button sequence is unsafe.
